The Mountain

I looked at the mountain top - crowned with pure snow -

But thought to myself... "It's a long way to go -

It is sure to be hard and dangers I'll meet

So why try to ascend on my world-weary feet ?

I will stay on the safe road though boring and dull

To climb up that mountain - I haven't the will ! "

But part of me argued... "Don't you want to achieve -

Expand your horizons - this dull valley leave ?

Don't you want to gain new heights and conquer your fears

Challenge your lifestyle and aim for the stars ? "

So putting my feet on the upward incline

I started to action this new dream of mine .

It is not for the sluggard .. for you have to take aim -

Then keep your eyes upward and gradually gain

The heights where the air is thinner and clear -

Where the hazards seem less when the summit is near.

So upward and onward through this life I'll climb

To the heights of achievement where victory's mine !

We all have a mountain to conquer or shun

But you're nearer to Heaven and nearer the Son

When you put all your trust in the One who is sure

For He'll take you to new heights where everything's pure.

Challenge that mountain ... though it towers so high ...

For YOU CAN ascend it if you'll only try !

What is your "mountain " ?

Perhaps it is lack of full commitment to following Jesus.

Perhaps it is the struggle of leaving old habits behind.

Perhaps it is surrendering something in your past

that is hindering your Christian walk or perhaps it is

just the fear of the jests from your friends if you say...

"No ! I won't do that ! "

Whatever your "mountain" ..it can be climbed and conquered

if you are just willing to "let go and let God " !

He has said He will finish the good work He has begun in you...

so......start climbing !
