In 1993 the Espanyol Manager Team decided an strategy in order to provide the first team with young players formed in its soccer school. The today chairman Mr. Daniel SÁNCHEZ LLIBRE joined to the staff of the Club to leader this project and now we can see the results:

1. An income of 2.800 MPts. ($14.92 million)
   generated for the transfer of Sergio Gonzalez to the Deportivo Coruña
   It was happened last August
2. To get the 2001 Spanish Junior Cup with the team Junior A
   And ... this summer more than 70 trophies have won the young teams
3. There are 12 players in the first team from the youth ranks from the "Pedrera"
   Tamudo, DE LUCAS, Soldevilla, Lopo, Morales, Argensó, David García, Alex, Iván Díaz
   And 3 more: David Catalá, Bruno Saltor and David Miranda who usually play in the second team ( The R.C.D. Espanyol B)
4. 240 young players (10 to 23 years old) in the development program of the "Pedrera"
   -  3 foreigners: 2 Japanese (Takano and Shinoda, 14) and 1 Nigerian (Uche, 18)
   -  1 player originate from Pakistan: FASIH in the Alevín A
       His family came to Barcelona 15 years ago
   -  1 player borned in the Arabian Emir: TARIQ in the Espanyol B
   -  1 of each 6 is an International player

The first player who Mr. Daniel SANCHEZ-LLIBRE brought up was Quique DE LUCAS who today is playing in the first team and he has early scored on the first 2001 with a spectacular volley.

First home win in the National Junior League where our Junior Team stars outshine U.D. Cornellá. They opened the scoring with just five minutes gone made by Siscu. Jonathan scored the tenth a minute shortly before the final whistle
