Who Am I?

I was formerly a languishing graduate student in computer science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I learned a great deal about computer science and computer graphics in particular. This knowledge has served me well as an employee of BOPS Incorporated in Durham, NC, where I programmed various things, large and small, in ManArray assembly. I enjoyed implementing a subset of OpenGL in order to simulate the ViewPerf CDRS-03 testset on our chip.

For the past three-odd years, I've been at home with the two youngest members of our family. That combines well with my work as a freelance Dutch-English translator. In my spare time (do try not to laugh too loudly; one must maintain a certain number of illusions, you know, in order to stay sane), I study languages, and I write stories. I am also enamored of logic puzzles, which is no doubt what attracted me to mathematics long enough to get an undergraduate degree in it. These days I'm learning to play duplicate bridge to satisfy my puzzling needs. My husband, 3 children, and I also like to travel. My favorite vacation so far was our two-week camping trip to Norway in 1997, when my husband, 5-year-old daughter and I were surrounded by all that beauty: our tent next to the gently babbling brook at the tiny campground nestled among mountains still wearing their snowcaps, with the unimaginably clear blue lake across the road. It was serene and magnificent.
