Zoe was a much loved pet, but a major illness forced her owner to surrender her for rehoming.  She came with a few problems due to some very bad advice from a vet.  As a puppy she was heavily supplemented with calcium and other additives, and the result was chalky bones that caused distortion of her spine and legs.  Her front legs were particularly bad and eventually had to have metal pins inserted to hold her weight.  Whilst she loved to romp and play, a certain amount of care had to be taken to ensure that she didn't damage herself even more, and she was prone to back pain if she jolted herself.  Certainly not a pretty dog to look at, she had a beautiful, loving nature and oozed character and good humour.  After 5 weeks in a foster home, an enquiry came from a lady who had recently lost her Dane and when she and Zoe were introduced, it was clear that they had 'found each other'.   Zoe lived happily with Irene for 5 years and passed away gently in her sleep several months ago at the age of 9 years and 9 months.
