ZARA
Zara was found wandering the streets of Brisbane with a badly injured paw.  Apart from this, she looked in good condition and well cared for, so the man who found her put up several posters in the area advising that he had found her and his phone number.  He also contacted several vets in the district and when no-one had come forward the following day, contacted me. He had tried to clean up her paw, but didn't take her to a vet.
Prior to this Glyn had rung me to say his last rescue Dane had passed away and he and his family wanted to give another dog a home.  Glyn, Roz, Clair and Beth had had 3 dogs from Rescue previously, and you couldn't want for a better home for a needy dog.  Their love is unbounded.
I suggested to the guy who found Zara, that he let me send Glyn  to collect her, and get her some vet. attention, but he wanted to keep her for another day, in case the owner turned up.   This didn't happen, so next day,Glyn collected his beautiful, black girl and was horrified at the condition her paw was now in.   A really bad infection had set in and the wound was extremely deep, almost to the bone.  Weeks and weeks of trips to the vet ensued, with anti-biotic treatment and daily dressing changes, and through it all, Zara just settled into her new home and won everyone's heart.  They still can't understand why she was never looked for.
This lovely girl is now fully recovered, and looking forward to spending Christmas with her new family and their many friends, and hoping there might be a pressie under the tree for her (which of course we know there will be)!
