Put all archers in line in front followed by infintry spread out in to rows no deaper than 3. Have 2 groups of 2 spear men on the out side but even with front row of infintry. Then 2 groups of 2 calv right behind infintry. Stay there and try if you can to fire on the enemy calv, if not then fire on infintry. Then move the middle 2 groups of infintry to meet their front rows. The enemy will try and flank you thats when you flank them with your other 2 groups of spear. their calv moves in to assist and you tell your remaining inifintry to flank their calv. Then take you calv and come from behind and help where needed, or try and kill their general.
If you have ever played with good players you will somtimes notice how they tend to rush you front row of archers with their horses, and get away before you retaliate. First In order to prevent this try and keep your own infantry and spear close to your archers. Next if you see the enemy's light calvery charging at your archers, tell all your archers to run behind your front line while at the same time moving your own front line up in same formation. Next while your lines are moving tell your own calvery to charge at the enemy's charging calvery. The enemy will then try and tell their calv to flee, and when this happens tell your archers to fire on their calv. If you do this just right you will have made another calvery rush on you by the enemy nearly impossible, because of so many causualties suffered. There almost no way one can tell a calvery unit of only 6 or 7 horses to charge at enemy archers.
Buy all your archers with hightest amount of armor possible and put all archers in line in front followed by infintry spread out in to rows no deaper than 3. Now instead of the even 2 spear and calv on each side this time put 3 calv and 3 spear on one side and only 1 calv and 1 spear on the other. Make the heavy side the more advantageous one. Now when the battle starts try and win the shoot out between your archers and theirs. When ready to fight engage the front rows of infantry with their front rows. Then use the heavier side to do an all out flanking attack. If lucky and with right timing the enemys center will route and you will gain the upper hand.
This is usually done with light calvery horses, as heavy ones are slower. To do this first look and see if the enemy's archers are a little ways away from their front link of inf and spear. If the are take 2 light calv and put them on one of the ends or your armys side.
Now select them both and tell them to run to a place directly behind enemy archers. When they reach the archers they will start fighting. Then just tell them to run away when the enemy sends in their men to break up the fight. Its likely the enemy will pull back thier forces and try and realign themselfs in formation once again. While they are doing this tell your own archers to fire on their infantry. If done correctly you should of killed a good deal of enemy archers as well as the enemys infantry and spear.
This is a new setup currently being addapted by alot of people, and there are mulitiple variations of it. To start you take your general as a cav valor 1 (preferablely as a chiv knight) and 2 more calv valor 1(chiv knights). Next take 2 hospitalitar or temp. Knights valor 1. Take 4 Militia Sergents valor 4 and 4 Chiv. Men at arms valor 3. Then take 3 valor 1 pavis arblasters. Set your pavis up front in one line then behind them a little ways away put your Chiv Men at arms as your front line with 2 Militia Sergents on both sides of the chiv.
Put 1 hospitalitar/Temp knight on each side of formation right behind your Milita Sergents and 1 Chiv knight behind your hos./temp. You can choose lighter calvery instead of hos./temp. to help prevent against calv rush pavis.
