Francis Marion Graves, grandfather to Maude (Wheeler) Griffith and 3nd wife, Florence Denton..
Francis Marion and Melissa (Graves Brassfield) Graves were the parents of Lucinda Emily. They were married Dec. 5, 1849.  Francis was named after Francis Marion, "The Swamp Fox", a general under George Washington.

Apparently, Melissa's maiden name was Graves. She first married James Henderson Brassfield in 1841, and had 4 sons by that marriage.

Graves married Fannie Cochran, who was born May 1, 1826, after the death of Melissa, on January 7, 1874.  He later married Florence Denton on May 30, 1892.

I close my eyes, only for a moment and the moment's gone.
All my dreams pass before my eyes in curiosity.
Dust in the wind.
All they are is dust in the wind.
Same old song.
Just a drop of water in an endless sea.
All we do crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see.
Dust in the wind.
All we are is dust in the wind.

Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky.
It slips away and all your money won't another minute buy.
Dust in the wind.
All we are is dust in the wind.
Dust in the wind.
Everything is dust in the wind.

William B. Graves and Elizabeth (?) were Francis Marion Graves parents. They may have both been born in Elizabeth Co., NC.  Peter Graves is believed to be William's father.

From what the records show, the family was still in North Carolina when Nancy was born in 1840. Sometime within that time and 1849, the family moved to Indiana, and William died. After the death of William, Elizabeth married Stephen Riddle, May 31, 1849, in Monroe County, Indiana.  Whether William ever lived in Indiana, or died in North Carolina, is unknown to us at this time.
