Cairn Terriers
Originated over 200 years ago in the Highlands of Scotland.to rid vermin from stone monuments that marked graves. These momunents where called cairn thats how the name came from. The Cairn Terrier is the orginal working terrier, and still to this day loves digging holes and hunting for vermin.
High energy dogs, need excerise.
Very good with children
Tough and patient dogs,
Can bark but are not yippers,
One of the more intelligent dogs
They grow to around 12inches,
They can be any colour but pure white or pure black, its not uncommon for them to change colour.
The coat is double-coated, a good thick woolly undercoat and long harsh undercoat to resist the weather.
They can live to a good age.
Need brushing a few times a wk, bathing only every 3 mths, hand stripping is the best way to groom.
They are stubborn little things, but are more easily trained than most other breed of terriers.
