Hi. Thanks for stopping by and wanting to know about my angel baby. I am not too good with words, so I'm just going to tell his story. I had been pregnant before Kyle and that pregnancy ended at 8 weeks gestation due to a miscarriage. Needless to say when I found out I was pregnant with Kyle, I was
ecstatic. I have wanted a baby for as long as I can remember. I guess that is because deep down I knew I would someday be told that having children is something that may kill me and the baby or just one of us. See, I was born with a heart defect known as Truncus Arteriosus type 1. It is fairly rare and there isn't much to do to completely fix this heart defect. There are treatments and surgeries to "repair the heart" but many people with heart defects are not able to have children. Kyle's story begins in July of 1998 when I found out I was pregnant with him. It was only about 6 months after I lost my first baby. I was scared and happy at the
same time. I was only 16 years old and was told that this was the best time to go through with a pregnancy since being young is best for the body. I went to my first OB/GYN (High Risk) appointment in the middle of August due to insurance problems. The doctor did an ultrasound and said that we'd have to wait and see how this pregnancy turned out, but as far as that appointment, everything looked fine. The next appointment was when I was about 19 weeks along. He said that the baby was a keeper because I had past the 8 week mark by that time. Then Nov. 17, 1998 I found out I was having a boy! That's what I wanted. A few days later I went into Ventricular Tachycardia (that is where the heart beat is at 275+ beats/minute). I was rushed to the hospital and they had to use the external
defibrillator to shock my heart back into rhythm. My baby was still doing good and I was on my way home after a week in the hospital. I had another appointment on Dec. 17 and that is when I found out Kyle didn't have a heartbeat anymore. I was put in the hospital right away to give birth.
