This is a PREQUEL to the original "FDTD", brought to you once again by Tarantino and Rodriguez, with the bartender as the only connecting character. Well, this time we see Robert Patrick (Terminator 2) as Buck, an "ex"-con who teams with his other "ex"-con friends to pull some ultimate bank heist in Mexico. Well, the group (consisting of Buck, his escaped pal Luther, a rent-a-cop, a dog fighter, and a rodeo clown!) stop at a motel, where Luther and Jesus (the dog fighter) are turned into vampires and "fan" the night clerk. During the heist, Luther and Jesus let their bloodlusts get the better of them, as they feed on the rent-a-cop and rodeo clown, leaving Buck as the only "normal" one left in the group. Reinforcements arrive in the form of the local police force and Buck's "arch-nemesis turned best friend" Otis: a Texas lawman! Well, the undead bad guys rip the shit out of the burrito munchin' fuzz, but what's this? It's the sun! Looks like everything's gonna be alright! Oh wait, we did that in the last "FDTD"! So, let's have a solar eclipse! Well, Buck and Otis kill their bloodsuckin' opponents, and Buck gets off scott free... with the cash! This was a good movie, and it's a cruel world when "John Carpenter's Vampires" gets the wide release treatment, and THIS mini-epic gets doomed to direct-to-video Hell! Finally, look for Bruce Campbell(!) and Tiffany Amber-Theisen in a short cameo in the beginning! Chao!
Sequels: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN 3: THE HANGMAN'S DAUGHTER (again, it's also a prequel)
