Notice the "cute" Roman numeral 4 (IV) in "OblIVion". Yes, Reggie Banister returns as Reggie, Angus Scrimm (Scrimmy to his friends) again as the menacing Tall Man (Tally), Michael Baldwin as Michael, and of course Reg's 4 barreled shotgun is back as well! We start off with a recap of the first 3 installments, then we pick up with Reggie where we last left him, pinned to the wall by a gang of Tally's balls! Also, as an added bonus, Tim (the little bastard from the last movie) is masterfully taken from the story by some quick editing! Okay, so the writers were terrible in that they never told us what the fuck happened to the brat, but it's better that way... as if he never existed! Anyway, Tally lets Reg go (can't kill the comic relief!) and tells him that his time will come and the final "game" has started. Reg changes the tires on his hot rod (and gets a new roof?! He lost the other one in LORD OF THE DEAD!) and Jody ball guilt trips his ice cream vending ass into staying in for the long haul. Reg then gets into a typical traffic altercation, shooting a cop twice, getting zombie ooze barfed into his mouth, then blowing the guy (and his car) all to Hell! Mike winds up in Death Valley, by Tally's whim, and begins having visions of Tally and... the Civil War?! Driven wacky, Mike tries to hang himself, has a flashback of cutting Tally down from a similar situation (as in PHANTASM), and Tally in turn cuts him down now. Somehow Mike opens a doorway (those vibrating poles), goes back to the Civil War, and confronts Tally, his wife (the Granny from the original PHANTASM) and their comfy Southern mansion. I think this was Tally before he became evil (when he was Jebediah Morningside) when he's naive about his dimensional portal and offers Mike lemonade to boot! Mike then returns to Death Valley as Reg pulls a hot blonde named Jen (yet another girl to reject our middle-aged ice cream man) from a car wreck (who has Tally ball tits when Reg tries to *boink* her!). Mike discovers he has TK (telekinetic) powers (is he another Tall Man!?) and makes a ball of his own out of hearse parts, vowing to destroy Tally once and for all! Finally Reg catches up to Mike, loads his shotgun, and dons his ice cream man outfit (why the Hell did he do that?!)... just in time to take out some midgets! WAHOO! After taking out like 12 of the little ankle-humpers, Mike and Jody pop in, then leave again after Mike tells Reg not to trust Jody. It turns out that Tally was a simple undertaker seeking a way to control the passage between life and death... and he apparently does. Mike and Jody then travel to a cemetery where Mike kills Jody (or does he?... NOPE!), then he paralyzes Tally and Jody using the negating waves of Reg's tuning fork, kills Jody AGAIN, but then gets snagged by Tally. After beating Reg's ass, Tally and Mike's hearse go up in a ball of flame (goodness gracious, great... well, you know the rest) and ANOTHER Tally pops in! Tearing the balls from Mike's head (I think Mike and Jody were evolved Tally balls or something) and leaves, with Reg in hot pursuit, ending with young Mike and ice cream man Reg (that would make a cool action figure HAHA!) riding in his ice cream truck. I'm still a little confused here... I'm not sure if Reg went back in time and the whole thing starts over again, or if Reg just flashed back to this scene before he enters his final battle... either way it was better than PHANTASM 3 (by about 100 fold!) and I am eager for the 5th installment! WAHOO!
