Pieces

(1983)

Ah PIECES, I was subjected to this movie when I was younger. And to this day, I STILL thank my aunt and her boyfriend for their careless neglect in subjecting a boy to movies that should be seen by adults only. Thanx again Auntie Em! It all starts in Boston 1942: a woman slaps her son around for playing with a porno puzzle. So, being an American kid, he splits her skull with an axe! Then he proceeds to saw her up. 40 years later, lil' Timmy's all grown up and has graduated to power tools, using a college campus for his new meat market. Who is Timmy? My guess: the professor... or maybe the Dean. The cops set up a sting to find the killer, and some student named Kendel is brought in as a narc. Eventually, thanx to Kendel we find that it is in fact the Dean. And before he can kill Ken's partner Mary, Ken and the cavalry show up and shoot Dean Timmy square between the eyes. They uncover a patchwork woman made from the body parts swiped from the dead girls. Just when you think it's over, the patchwork woman grabs a handful of Kenny's bits and PIECES (bad pun), and rips em off! Oh the horror... the HORROR!!!! Basically, this movie was not unlike THE TOOLBOX MURDERS, in that PIECES was pretty much gratuitous sex and gore. Only real difference is that Dean Timmy was doing it to make his "perfect woman", while the guy in TOOLBOX MURDERS didn't seem to have ANY motive. Good movie, however, PIECES could have been better, if it weren't plagued with all that damn upbeat, fast paced 70's music. B.Y.O.F.! Bring Your Own Funk!
