My Personal Interests

One of my hobbies in collecting stamps.  When I was living in Quito was when I began this hobby, because the short-wave radio station HCJB broadcasts all over the world in many languages.  As a result, they also get mail responses from all over the world, and therefore the acquisition of stamps was fairly easy.  Also, I had a couple of operations which made me quite immobile, and therefore stamps was a good pastime, because most of the work can be done while sitting in one position.

I love music;  I like many types and styles of music (pop, Jazz, symphonic, contemporary Christian, etc.), but I think that I best enjoy music that is instrumental rather than vocal.  I enjoy singing in choirs, also, however.  My voice is not excellent, but it can "make a joyful noise unto the Lord."  Here at Jesus People USA, where I am presently residing, I used to sing with their gospel choir, but have recently stopped singing with that and started to sing with a community choir that is conveniently located right across the alley from where I live.  I'm praying that God will give me opportunities to share Him with others from that group.

Presently I am interested in learning more about the use of computers.  I find it challenging to comprehend and retain all that there is to know about them.

All my life, my aspiration has been to go overseas as a foreign missionary, also, hopefully to a Latin, Spanish speaking nation.  Usually, after a coma, one loses their second language; with me, however, I re-learned my Spanish at the same rate as I remembered my English.  I have never lost my love for interacting with those from Ecuador, or actually, from any Latin culture.  Recently, however, I was in Ecuador for a six month period; although God used me greatly during that time, he also confirmed to me that Ecuador is not where He wants me to be.  I am learning "in whatsoever state (or country, for that matter) I am, therewith to be content."

I have learned to really value and treasure the time that I can spend with God in prayer.  If any of you have a need that you would like prayer for, please feel free to write to me, and I can become your prayer partner.  Writing is also a great way to get things off of your mind.  (For years, I have had a prayer journal, in which I write letters to my Heavenly Father.  He has promised to hear my prayer, and never to leave  me (us) or forsake me (us).  If you have a request that you would covet prayer in, please drop me an E-mail, and I will lift you up before the Lord Almighty.  I know that after my accident, I required a tremendous amount of prayer, as did my parents, who's world had just taken a complete change of direction. Since my folks were working at a Christian short-wave radio station, the request for prayer went out all over the world.  They received sincere prayer from all over the world;  God used the prayer of our brothers and sisters in Christ to give us the peace that passes all understanding, if we will keep our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.   I believe that God is giving me the red flag, saying that no, He does not want me overseas at the present moment, but I do believe that He has called all of us to prayer, and "the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."  If I can be uplifting someone else's ministry in prayer, I would be very happy (I think that it would make God happy as well).
