To My "Gone With The Wind" Page

I have always been an avid fan

of this movie and wanted to create

a page for your enjoyment.

I started collecting memorabilia

from the movie over 20 years ago.

I have quite a collection of dolls,

plates, etc.

I have watched the movie more times

than I can count.  My Son and his

wife gave me the movie, many years

ago.  And I frequently spend the day

watching it every year.  I have been most

fortunate that my children have gifted

me with a lot of my collection.

For those of you that haven't seen the

movie.  It is an epic of the Civil War.

It is a very good movie and a great classic

written by Margaret Mitchell in

1936 and a hit movie in 1939.

This was the only book that Ms. Mitchell

wrote, she was killed by a hit and run

driver in Atlanta.

Thank you so much for sharing your talent.

I really appreciate all the help you have given me

not only on my pages but making these graphics for

not only this page but other pages.

Thank you.

A beautiful lady by the name of Vivian

Leigh played the part of Scarlett.

Scarlett agreed to marry  Charles Hamilton,

when she learned that the love of her life

AshleyWilkes was to marry Melanie

Hamilton.

War had been declared and the men were

all called to arms.

Hamilton later died

Rhett Butler is played by the most

handsome and debonair gentleman

Clark Gable

The day that Rhett asked Scarlett

to marry him.  What a kiss.

Rhett had been in

love with Scarlett almost since

he had met her at the very beginning

of the movie.

Scarlett and Melanie just before Melanie

passed away.  Very moving scene,

a real tearjerker.  Melanie was the

nicest lady.  Someone to admire for her

honesty and kindness.

Movie Trivia

Scarlett is seen walking on the main

street on the way to the hospital.  You

can clearly see a light bulb in one

of the street lights.

If you time Melanie's pregnancy by the

Civil War Battles, she would have been

with child for a total of 21 months.

When Scarlett is dressing for the barbeque

she's not wearing a coral necklace. When

she's hurrying down to get ready before

her father counts to 10, there is no time

for Scarlett to get a piece of jewelry.

But Scarlett is wearing the necklace

when she's undressing for her nap.

The shadow scenes in which Scarlett

and Melanie care for the wounded

in Atlanta hospital was filmed with

two doubles.  Since Leigh and De Havilland

were standing at the wrong angle to cast

the shadows, two stand ins were positioned

in front of the high-intensity light.

The shadows of the doubles were

reflected on the wall behind the stars,

and the result was a stunning visual

effect. Yet upon a closer look, the

gestures of the stand-ins are not

totally synchronized with the movement

of the stars.

Scarlett's flight from Atlanta is so sudden

that, as she leaves Aunt Pittypat's house,

she is hatless.  But a black mourning

bonnet appears on her head as she

and Rhett ride through the depot area.

The ring of fire, and as she and Rhett

follow the retreating confederate

troops outside the city.  In the next

scene, when Rhett stops the

carriage on the turn to Tara, the bonnet

vanishes.

After her night of passion with Rhett,

Scarlett awakens and delights

in the memory.  Her mammy enters,

comes to the bedside and takes away

a tray containing a silver service.

An earlier part of this scene

showed Bonnie bringing the breakfast

tray to her mother, but this was deleted

during the editing.  Did part of Rhett's

romantic overtures include a midnight

supper?

In the fire scene, you can actually see the

set of King Kong burning ( the huge

gates that King Kong came through).
