| MEXICO We left Tucson Az on December 1st. We got to Nogales on the 2nd. We stayed in a campground there until the morning of the 5th. We needed to spend time as a family seeking God and settling heart problems and understanding why it was that we were going into Mexico. There were fear issues and other things that God wanted to take care of before leaving the U.S.. So on December 5th we crossed the border and began heading south. We had no problem getting our visas, and the guards at all the checkpoints just looked at us, smiled or laughed and waved us on. The first day in Mexico we rode as far as Sibuta, about 27 miles over a mountain pass. It was mostly down hill! We stopped at a Taco stand in Sibuta and were able to talk to four guys about the Lord. They spoke English and were well on their way to being drunk. We asked if there was somewhere around there to camp. They told us to go across the street to the Catholic Church and camp in the yard. We felt a little weird about this, but went across to see what it looked like. There were two ladies coming out of the church. We asked them about camping there. They said we could but it would be real cold. They invited us home with them. We spent the night in a trailer that they had in their yard. Friday, the 6th we rode to Magdalena. Just south of town there was a hostel/campground. We spent the night there and were able to share Christ with the owner. He spoke very good English. On Saturday the 7th, we stopped to rest in Santa Anna and met an American missionary that lives in Hermosillo. He gave us his phone number to call him when we got that far. We rode to Benjamin Hill. It was beginning to get dark so we rode into town. We had gone about three blocks when a woman and her daughter pulled up and in English, asked if we needed help. We told them we needed to camp somewhere. They invited us home. We stayed in their house and had a great time of fellowship. They were Christians and we were able to encourage them to live totally for Christ. Sunday the 8th---We rode as far as Carbo today. Carbo sits about 5 miles off the highway, but it was getting dark so we rode on into town. We rode to el centro looking for a church that we had been told about. We didn't find it but a lady came up to us and spoke about five words of english. We asked her in spanish about a place to camp. She said no, come to my house. It is too cold. We spent a wonderful evening with her and her husband, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and the reality of who He is. Monday the 9th--- We rode to Hermosillo today; about 55 miles. When we got into town, we called Duane (the missionary that we had met in Santa Anna. He lived on the other end of town so brought his full size van and came and got us. Praise God that we did not have to ride across that city! Tuesday the 10th---We rode to LA Pintada. La Pintada consists of a restaurant. We were able to camp outside by some picnic tables. Right outside of Hermosillo a 17 year old boy caught up to us on his bicycle. He was riding to Obregon, so rode with us as far as La Pintada. Wednesday the 11th--- We rode 45 miles into Guaymas today. It took us six days to get from Nogales to Guaymas. It was an exciting six days as we were able to experience the Mexican culture and people in a very close and real way. Even through our limited Spanish we were able to present the gospel to many people along the way. |

| Guaymas: We are currently in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico. When we got to the fork for Guaymas/ San Carlos, we knew that we were supposed to stay in Guaymas for awhile. We stopped at the fork to rest. A doctor and a businessman came riding up. They were training for a race in San Carlos. After talking for a while, Doctor Diaz invited us to stay at his house. We stayed there for three days. During this time we were able to share alot with them about a personal relationship with Christ. Keep the Diaz family in your prayers. During this time they put us in touch with Pastor Derrick from Iglesia Cristana Miramar. On Saturday we left the Diaz home and rode around Guaymas for a couple of hours praying. The Lord gave us vision for this city and said that we were to stay. He showed us that there were alot of hurting people here that were searching for Him. This is a place ready for the harvest. We thought that was great but the question was "Where Lord?" The Miramar church had a Christmas presentation going on that evening. We went and after the program this gentleman, Bill approached us and said that Pastor Derrick had told him about us and if we were planning on being in Guaymas for a while, he would like to offer us his brothers house. His brother won't be down this year and would like his home used for the Lord. So we are here in Guaymas until God says go. We are currently working with several different ministries reaching out into Guaymas, San Carlos, surrounding villages and Colonials. We are available for the Lord to use us however and wherever He chooses. |
