Fog Machine |
Fog machines add a cool effect to your parties. Either a fog through the room or a dense fog rolling across the floor. If you want it on the floor you need to use a Fog Chiller. I have tested this, It does work. Buy one for $100 to $1000 or build your own for about $20. These plans are for reference only. If you build this use extreme caution. Risk of shock and or fire. |
Material List |
2 - Bread Pans 1 - Dimmer Switch 1 - Computer Fan 1 - Electrical Box 1 - Iron 1 - Extention cord 1 - 3 or 4 gang aquarium air valve 4 feet air tubing |
Time to build: 2-3 hours |
Assembly Instructions |
First disassemble the iron so that only the base with the electrical connectors are left. Some irons have adjustable heat switches, if yours does you do not need to use the dimmer switch. Connect one lead from the iron to the dimmer switch and the other to the extention cord. The iron base fits into one of the bread pans. The bottom pan needs to have about 15 3/8" holes drilled near the top all the way around for fresh air intake. The top pan needs one large hole in the end to mount the fan, and 3 or 4 small holes in the top for the air tubing (fluid drip). To the top pan mount the air valve ( the air valve allows you to adjust the drip rate ). To the bottom pan mount the dimmer switch. The iron must not touch the bottom of the pan, so bolt it to the pan with L brackets or whatever you can find. The two bread pans mount to each other, one upside down on top of the other to make a box. Use clamps to hold them together. The fluid drips directly onto the hot iron surface. To get the fluid into the fogger, put a long piece of air tubing into your container of fluid and start to syphon. To use the syphon method your container must be above the level of the fogger, so gravity can do its job.Once the fluid is flowing connect it to the air valve and begin to adjust the drip rate on each tube seperately. 1.5-2 secs. between drips on EACH one. Once the heat is on and the drips have started you will need to experiment with drip rate and heat settings for your particular fogger. While setting up the drips for the first time, use no electricity. If too much comes out you will have a mess and you could short out the fogger. Maybe get zapped. Once again if you dont understand electricity at least the basic basics dont attempt this. Go buy one. or email me, maybe I could help you out. Sorry about the pic quality. #1 shows the complete unit inside #2 outside, the valve hooks up to the hoses on top #3 cut out for the fan #4 back view showing (poorly) the holes for the electrical connections. Make sure the leads going through the holes in the pan are WELL insulated so there can be no contact between the leads and the pan. If they touch the pan you can get shocked, blow a breaker or even start a fire. So be very cautious with this step. |
These pics are from thr first prototype. It does work good. Improvements will be posted soon. Check back later |
I am still working on plans for a professional style fog machine. Using same concept but different technology. I have had a few set-backs in the construction and will not be able to work on it untill after X-Mas. Check back L8R Ive decided the plans for the pro style fogger will ONLY be given to those of you that actually help to promote this site. When the plans are complete I will Email them to each of you that request them, only if you have helped me. Send me ideas, post messages, click and sign onto my links. (They are free, Why Not?) You will get the plans if you deserve them. Im not asking alot. Building this stuff costs money.(something I have VERY LITTLE of ) I get a few cents when you sign onto the links, this will help me to fund these projects. I will have to stop making HellaCoolStuff if I dont get some support. Please Help. I am doing this because I was looking for some info one day on something that should have been free and this S.O.B. wanted $12.95 for the info. Well I got PISSED ! So now I will show you everything I can learn. A cheap ass fog machine should not cost $100 +. If you have $100 or more that you need to get rid of please Email me!!! I would be very glad to help you with your problem. |
This is very funny stuff.. Check it out |

Do Not Attempt to use these plans (or any other) if you do not have a basic understanding about electricity. You could get shocked and/or start a fire. |
For safety plug into a GFI outlet. Thats the plug-ins with the buttons. If anything shorts out it will trip the GFI instantly. |
Picture 2 shows the air tubing going through the lid. The hoses are pushed through holes drilled in the lid.The ends shown (pic. 2)hanging out are where you connect the aquarium air valve. If you slow the drip through each tube so that it drips about once every 1.5 - 2 seconds. This allows enough heat to be regenerated between drips |
