What is the ATC?

The Air Training Corps is a national youth organisation, for boys and girls, which encourages a practical interest in aviation, adventure training and sport, and aims to provide training that will prove useful in all walks of life.

Above all it aims to implant the qualities of initiative, self-confidence and self-discipline in the citizens of tomorrow.

Many facilities are provided by the RAF, but there is no pressure on cadets to join the service. Whatever cadets do after leaving school, their Air Cadet training experience gives them a good start.

If you are keen on aircraft, flying & gliding, traveling overseas, sport and adventure training, then think about joining the Air Cadets! If you live in or near Hemel Hempstead, get in touch with 1187 Squadron via the contact us page.

Along with the national ATC syllabus, 1187 Squadron offers a full range of Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme activities with success at bronze, silver & gold levels, as well as Millennium Volunteer Awards & BTEC (Intermediate Level) in Aviation Studies.

The ATC's motto is `Venture Adventure`.
