3.1 Conclusion

So let's summarise what we've found out about the phenomenon called grunge. It was originally used for the early Seattle bands and their sound. Then with Nirvana's breakthrough the word grunge was used for the much cleaner and more commercial sound of the modern grunge bands. The music business and the media all made money with this new phenomenon. A grunge fashion was established and the musicians got a very uncommercial attitude which was directed against the media as they didn't want to be exploited by it anymore. Kurt Cobain killed himself and Eddie Vedder found ways to avoid the mass media attention. So grunge was declared dead. But the media found new targets in the new grunge bands who worked together with it. Today the word grunge is nothing more than a designation for a musical style which is a mixture between punk, heavy metal and rock. As I already said at the end of 2.1.2 it has become a vogue word and was thus alienated from its original meaning of which there is not much left.

3.2 Literary Sources

I'm sorry but I can't write down all my sources here because I have got many texts from the Internet of which I simply don't know anymore where they are from and as my brother has sold our modem and as I hadn't got the time I couldn't surf in the Internet to find out the locations. Further there may be things from many not mentioned texts as I have read very much about grunge. I have only used very few texts but I also wrote a lot of things from what I remembered.
