grotte agreed with me that this page looks better cleaned up.  however i got a complaint from kc about the header of the page which just simply says "beware of the elderly"  he basically said that it doesn't jump out at the audience enough.  once he pointed this out to me i was a little concerned about it and thought that maybe i should come up with something a little better than what i have at the moment.  however what i have at the moment isn't far

from what i'm going for, you know, something simple, but maybe that is a little too simple.  anyway if i do change the header i was thinking of putting my bus pass id card (above) on it and possibly saint george's cross to the right of it with "beware of the elderly" going across the cross, but that's just a thought.  and also i'm not set on the title that i currently have, but its starting to grow on me.  also, the line from 'country roads' is gone, sorry john denver fans.  i liked it at the time, but if you know me then you know i can change my mind at the drop of a hat and that i can be spontaneous at times.

mundane continental, well what can i say?  i guess its been coming along, i'm not sure if i'm going to finish all the songs i wanted to though and as of late i've been getting sick of it.  so far i've recorded and am content with fall fall down, don't expect any help from me, dirty apes part one and part two, [hope] -which i want to change the name of, the loss of london, liberty, victorian aristocracy, and manufacturing plant.  i have recorded but am unhappy with looking out the window, there's a hole in my skull, home, radiohead and deftones, and two un-named pieces.  i haven't recorded drive you around town yet.  i don't really plan on recording sipping coffee over tea (because i feel guilty about stealing that phrase from ryan grotte who is a genius and at least thirty percent smarter than i am or ever will be) and where would i find the likeliness of you (because it is unfinished and is just an idea without any real music or lyrics at the moment).  i don't know, it all seems like a mess right now but i guess if i try hard enough i could actually get it all done.

seven days until departure, seven days to pay for school, five days until i receive financial aid.

ten days until departure.
friday: watched we were soldiers.  good movie.
saturday: watched confessions of a dangerous mind.  pretty good movie.
sunday: watched the superbowl.  it was okay.

recently i've been trying to watch the band of brothers box set my brother got me for christmas, right now i'm on episode seven of ten.  they've all been pretty good except the last one was a little slow.  the focus is on a medic that runs around and makes quick fixes with what equipment he has.  most of that episode is down time near the quiet front lines.  the last three episodes should be a little more exciting i think, as they get closer to v-e day.

as for the recordings, i was just messing around playing not my stuff in there yesterday.  during the business week is when i get some more of my 'serious' stuff done, unless i have to work.  oh yeah, i hope you like john denver because that line from country roads is going to be up there for a little bit (i think)...

i hope you all like the sort of new and improved page.  its set up like the old page just cleaner, slightly bigger, and more space efficient because i don't have those crappy lines going through the text which bugged me.

life in the studio... i have to make a correction about the size of the loo i'm working in (which is my studio if you haven't been keeping up with the entries).  i was measuring the floor of the bathroom to see how big of a rug i would need to properly cover all of the freezing tile floor and decided to just measure the entire room because i was curious as to how big it really is.  my previous guess of 5x8 feet was incorrect, the room is actually 4x6.5 feet small.  this means that my bathroom could actually be smaller than some walk-in closets... sad isn't it.  and then if you take into account the sink counter top and toilet space its really only 3x6.5 feet.  i guess what i'm getting at is really just re-enforcing what i had said earlier, there isn't a whole lot of space in there.  but its enough for me.  i wouldn't call what i've recorded so far a success but i wouldn't call it a failure either.  things have been going fairly well in there.  i have posted 'victorian aristocracy' up on the
mundane continental webpage (mundane continental being the name of my one man band).  the song is in wav format for now.  in time i will put up more songs that you will be able to listen to but its all just lyrics and stuff about the songs for now with the exception of the 'victorian aristocracy' wav.  check it out if you can and please let me know what you think of it, the music that is.

as i was driving to blockbuster and back to return mlb slugfest at half two in the morning, because i was up and still am, and mainly because its due at noon tomorrow and since its half four in the morning now the chances of me waking up before noon tomorrow are really slim... anyway while i was driving i was listening to an old radiohead cd i had put togeather before amnesiac was released and found that the songs 'vegetable' and 'lurgee' have redeeming qualities to them, this is especially true for 'lurgee'.  its been a while since i've listened to anything other than the popular radiohead songs or anything that came out before
ok computer.  i guess i just sort of forgot about all the other radiohead songs for a while.  i'm glad i've stumbled upon them again.  things that sound good seem to sound really good if you haven't heard them in a while, radiohead included.  well now that my mom is up and getting ready for work means that its far past my bed time, give or take three hours.

the studio is up.  on wednesday night i moved my computer from my bedroom to my bathroom.  now if you can imagine a full bathroom that is about 5x8 and then trying to shove a computer in there, there isn't going to be a whole lot of room left in there.  the monitor is to the right of the sink, the keyboard and mouse to the left of the sink, and the tower is under the sink.  and just so you get a feel for how its all set out the toilet is to the left of the keyboard, the stand-up shower is opposite the toilet, and the door is next to the monitor.  its a crazy set up i know but it works.  i spent something like three hours in there last night.  i recorded one song four times, a lengthy mess around with a song, and something like three recordings of another song.  the thing is that i always start over when i mess up so to actually compete a song for keeping it takes a while, so the recordings i just listed took up just a fraction of time.  and right now what is bugging me the most is that i recorded a song back in mankato that i want to re-record and i can't figure out with the bridge is in that song.  hopefully i can figure it out soon or else i'm gonna have to kill or strangle something.  oh and just so you know the computer that is in my bathroom and the computer that i'm using right now are different.  so i won't be talking to anyone online and be in the bathroom at the same time at any point.  i bet your relieved aren't you?

yesterday i was playing my guitar and recording it in the bathroom (my bathroom is in the basement next to my room) and my mom knocked on the door and said "what are you doing in there?"  needless to say she messed up the recording and i had to start over, but i guess i should have told her my whole plan so that i wouldn't be interupted.  but then again how do you tell your mom that you put a computer in the bathroom to record your stuff and that you'll be spending a lot of time in there playing guitar?  it was sort of an odd situation when she found out.

"my boredom has out shined the sun"
thank you billy corgan.  lately that has been the case for me.  other than working, i've been pretty bored.  the night before last i played my guitar for an hour or so in my bathroom just to see what the acoustics sound like.  it sounded pretty good.  i've even been considering putting my computer in my bathroom so that i can record whatever i want to play onto it (because my comp is the only device i have that records).  if i'm bored enough i just might do it.  it would also be interesting to see how much better the recordings would be in the bathroom opposed to in my bedroom.  as far as music goes i guess i'm going for the lo-fi/laid back
death cab for cutie: we have the facts and we're voting yes and  neutral milk hotel: aeroplane over the sea feel/sound.  i don't think i have a choice on the latter of the two, however i would like it to have more of a  i all-time quarterback ! feel to it if possible.  and if i get around to i'm gonna do some crappy over-dubbing that would combine primative drum beats, acoustic guitar, and vocals.  come to think of it, i will put that computer in my bathroom and give it a try.  i will then assess my progress and the worthiness of the project after a few recordings.  i'll let you know how its going after i've started it...
