Carrom
Carrom is another game which I did not find on the Internet.
Although I have received many emails from you about this, I guess I have abandoned this project (permanently?). Blame it on my studies - too many assignments and too little holidays! Please don't loose heart though, may be someday somebody else will release a Carrom - hopefully inspired by this effort .
Let me explain the features which were already included before I stopped.
How to Play
Playing Carrom requires you to simultaneously use the Keyboard, and the Mouse. For most interactions, you will have to hold down a key and simultaneously move the mouse without releasing the key.
Here are the currently available keys:
R | Rotate Ball (When game starts) Replay after a shot has been played |
S | Move Stricker |
A | Aim Stricker |
D | Pull back and move forward to shoot |
Q,W | Arrange spotted carrommen after a fine or double fine |
1-9,0 | Set accuracy |
>,< | Increase, decrease replay rate. |
Trace Mode
You may enter the trace mode by pressing 'T'. The following extra keys are available with the trace mode:
T | Turn off trace mode |
V | Change velocity |
Space | Execute shot with current trace velocity |
Hints
- In windowed mode, pause the game (F3) in order to release its capture over mouse.
- There is no sound implemented yet, so don't pull out your hair trying to turn on sound.
- The current version although unfinished, fully understands the rules and can be used to play the game againset each other by two humans.
Source
This project has been hanging around for a long time and I received many requests for it's continuation. Although I thought I will come back to it someday, I can see that I haven't yet done so. That is why I have decided to publish the source and encourage those who are interested to view it and if possible improve, or complete it. I hope you will let me know about your progress... The program is written in VC++ 6.0, and the source can be downloaded by clicking here (123 kb).
Donations
Initially I did not plan to ask for donations for using my softwares, since it gives me enough satisfaction to see these programs coming to somebody's use. But my mother has been recently diagnosed with Hepatitis C, whose treatment involves a costly therapy. If you liked any of my tools please feel free to donate; I would gladly accept and appreciate any donations.
