As you can see from this pic as the game progresses you actually age. You start out like this:

And then age, eventually becoming old and handing your farm over to your child. I hope you don't die in this game cause it would ruin it.

But you aren't the only one that ages, the other characters also age. a good example is Hyu. These screens are of him at age 6, 9, 14, and 21. There are other pics that look similar to other people in the game but I am not sure if they are the aged version of them. Here are some examples:
