Legolas is the ninth youngest son of Tharanduil, and a prince of Mirkwood. He goes to Rivendell to act as the envoy of the Woodland Elves who inhabit the great northern forest of Mirkwood. This one-beautiful forest is being over-run by orcs and other dark creatures of Sauron. Legolas is also aware of the true identity of the ranger, Aragorn, being 2,931 years old. Like many elves, Legolas highly distrusts dwarves, in particular, the Fellowship's dwarf, Gimli. But their bickering soon leads to friendship, and bringing the dwarf-elf feud to an end. Legolas brings a lot of beneficial and nessesary qualities to the Fellowship. Such as being able to shoot things accuratly and at a far distance with his bow. Elves can walk lightly over the ground without bending a blade of grass, or walk atop a snowy mountain without making footprints. Legolas is able to run swifty and easily accross the roughest terrain. AS a forest elf, he is a master at woodcraft and able to see far distances with his 'Super Elvin Sight', and able he is to survive in the forest by using his instincts. He is a deadly shot with his elvin bow. Legolas, in addition to his bow, carries to elvin knives with filigreed blades.
