Pippin, or Peregrin to use his true name which is hardly ever used, is the youngest of the four hobbits at 29, and the whole Fellowship too. Merry is his closest friend, and they're quite insperable. For years they have been the terror of the Shire with their practical jokes, and don't even rest for Bilbo's 11th birthday party, where they nearly burn down the Shire when they try to light a firecracker indoors. Pippin is rarely the instigator in these pranks, however, and usually just follows Merry's lead without question. Pippin is nieve, sweet-natured, and has earned himself the title as being a "Fool of a Took" by proving himself to be more than a little foolish at times. Pippin is probably the least prepared to embark on this perilous quest, but he will soon prove that Hobbit's can be just as brave and noble as men or elves.
