By October of 1998, the Boyz were pretty much relaxing before they went to Australia for the end of the Evolution World Tour. At the end of October, they were honored by BET (Black Entertainment Television) as the newest honorees of the BET Walk of Fame. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Babyface were the previous honorees, so they are in pretty good company. They performed a mini-concert and received a mini-plaque of what will go up in the BET studios to commemorate their induction and a pretty glass sculpture. In November and December, Boyz II Men were busy making the video for "I Will Get There" and making few appearances for the Prince of Egypt soundtracks. They appeared on such televisions shows as MTV's The Cut (only Wanya), The Regis & Kathie Lee Show, and a few more.

In January of 1999, PolyGram (Motown's distributor) merged with Universal, another huge entertainment company. Artists were going to be shifted around, employees were going to be fired, and some artists would loose their contract to their record company all together. Well, after eight years of being on Motown Records, Boyz II Men FINALLY got the chance to get out of their contract and leave. And that is what they did. They ended up at Universal Records. Now that the war between Motown and Boyz II Men is finally over, Motown Records will most likely really suffer in the next few years since their biggest stars ever have finally left. Almost every major star that was ever on Motown Records left, so you knew that Boyz II Men would be gone very soon, no matter what. For the next Boyz II Men album, hopefully, Universal will do their job and actually do what they are being paid to do, unlike Motown.

Once Boyz II Men were off of Motown, nothing really started to change. They made television appearances on the 14th Annual Gospel Stellar Awards, Lou Rawl's Parade of Stars, MTV's Ultra Sound: Money for Nothing, and an appearance on Kids WB! to find the fifth member of Boyz II Men. This of course was not real, but it was fun to watch cartoon characters with Boyz II Men. The fifth member of Boyz II Men ended up being the ever popular, Tweety Bird.

By March of 1999, press releases were coming out everywhere from Magic Johnson's Management Company claiming that Boyz II Men have joined MJM to be managed. But, it actually wouldn't make a difference since long time manager, Qadree El-Amin went with MJM to be the vice-president, so he would still manage them. But, there was a catch. When Nate saw these press releases, he said Boyz II Men never had talks with MJM, and that they are still on Southpaw Management. A few days after that, MJM responded saying that they were in talks with Qadree for over a month, so they figured Qadree would have told them of their plans. Qadree later responded saying that the deal with MJM would still have him manage Boyz II Men under Southpaw. So, from the looks of it, Boyz II Men is still with Southpaw Management. Also in March of 1999, a new award was unveiled for artists who had sold over 10 million copies of one album in the United States of America. The award is presented by the RIAA (the Recording Industry of America, they hand out the gold and platinum certificates), and it is called the Diamond Award. About 46 artists received this award, and Boyz II Men were one of them. The award was for II only since it had sold 12 million copies in America alone. Too bad that Cooleyhighharmony can't sell another million copies because it has currently sold 9 million copies only in the United States. That award is still a huge achievement in itself. Also in March, rumors were flying everywhere that Boyz II Men were recording a new album. Well, they actually are not rumors since many music news sources reported it after talking to them at the Diamond Awards. Hopefully, the long-awaited fourth Boyz II Men album will be out before 1999 ends.
