# 1 Thing you can do to find your pet!!!
If you have lost your pet, you must put up posters in your neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods. Make sure you cover all entrances and exits and use bold letters and numbers that can be easily read from a distance. Replace the signs if it rains or they come for some reason.

2 Go to Animal Services every other day to look for your pet (they only have to be held a minimum of three to five days before they're placed up for adoption or killed). Do not call them to check, you must go in person. They can NOT tell you whether your pet is there or not; thousands of animals pass through their doors every year and their records are inaccurate. Your pet is in eminent danger of being killed if it is at one of these shelters, so visit every day if possible!

Avoid losing your pet for good:
1) Don't let your pet roam unsupervised. Your neighbors may bring it to animal control, it may become the target of a sick minded individual, it could get hit by a car, it might be killed by another animal, or it may contract a deadly virus/disease.

2) Always have a collar on your pet, even indoor animals, with your phone number and address. For cats, Hartz (sold at Publix) makes a safety collar that snaps off when it is pulled. You can write your phone # in permanent marker right on the collar.

3) Have your pet micro chipped at the vet. Prices start at only $35 for this kind of I.D.
