Taking Care of Your Pet Rabbit Feeding Your Rabbit |

* We suggest that you buy a 50# bag of rabbit pellets. If you have 2 rabbits a 50# bag of pellets should last a long time (e.g. for our first 2 rabbits it lasted approximently 6 months). Make sure the pellets are fresh smelling and not moldy. Feed your rabbit grass hay (Timothy hay, Barmuda grass etc,) several times a week. It is better if they are fed it every day. * I have heard it is not good to feed a rabbit chocolate. I’m not sure why though. * Rabbits can be fed bread. Our rabbits really like bread when we give it to them. They can also be fed cheerios. Our rabbits also like cherrios. * It is also good to feed your rabbit fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the week. Feed only small amounts of any of the things on the list below. Because feeding alot of treats is not a good thing to do because they rabbits may not eat their pellets like they should. Here is a list of some of the fruits and vegetable that are good for your rabbit. Vegetables Radish Basil Beet greens Carrot and carrot tops Clover Dandelion greens and flowers Collard greens Parsley Peppermint Leaves Raspberry Leaves (this helps before and after a doe kindles but it can also be fed to any bunny) Fruits: Pineapple (this helps with hairballs) Apple (I have heard that you should not feed seeds to your rabbit, but we have given a whole apple core to several of our rabbits and we have not had any problem) Melons Peaches Plums Strawberry (this is a good source of iron) Blueberry Banana Oranges Papaya (this also helps with hairballs) Raspberries |
