Calendar of Events
This site is dedicated to the preservation of the quality of life in Huerfano County.  This includes efforts to preserve the existing beauty throughout the county, the quiet serenity, the coexistence of animals, plants and people in this area.  Our county is one of the few unspoiled areas in the country and want this area to remain as it is for generations yet to come.

Yes, growth will occur in our county. But it can occur in a planned, conscientious manner that balances the needs of industry and the needs of the county to have revenue  with the needs of the people and the environment.

Please join us in our efforts to monitor county and state activities  and let your voice be heard.  Do not remain silent.  These ARE the times your action is needed.

Summer 2002 - Education for Empowerment
Come join us this summer for 2 informative conferences on coal-bed methane drilling in Huerfano County and surrounding areas.  This is an issue which can have dramtic impacts upon our county and way of life.

June 29th - (10-5pm) La Veta High School Gym
July 20th - time and place to be announced

We are gathering speakers from local organizations, environmental groups, the EPA, Colorado Dept of Natural Resources and more.  The first conference will focus on educating ourselves to the impacts, what is CBM gas drilling, what is happening along the Rockies and Colorado.  The second conference will focus on practical advice for citizens, mineral-rights owners and surface rights owners.

If you are interested in attending,
please email us to obtain a registration form.  The cost of the conferences will be $10 each to cover materials.  Each participant will receive a bind full of learning materials.
