The tank
Main
I started this tank in july of 2002 as an upgrade for my old 100 gal tank which was running for 5 years and had run out of space to introduce more corals and inverts.

Itīs dimensions are 80" (200 cms) length, (70 cms.)28" wide and 29" (72.5 cms) height and it is on a 44" (110 cms.) stand which is very tall and adds a great looking to the tank, allowing also to being able to look at the tank while being standing . I think this is the perfect size tank for my needs, I like the dimensions because it gives a sense of deepness to the tank and you can play a lot with the aquascaping.

In this case, weight is a big concern because this tank is in my room in a second floor, and the idea of waking up with my tank in the first floor wasnī t funny at all.

The water circulation if provided by a Little Giant 4mdqsc, which takes the water from the sump to the tank and also feeds the skimmer. Inside the tank there are 4 maxijets 1200 connected to a Red Sea Wave Master Pro to  promote some turbulence.

Also, in order to prevent salt spray or water spilling from the tank, I made a 5" glass frame over the  top and it also helps me to place things over it without the risk of falling into the water, like the hood. The frame also prevents the tank from bowing.

I use dual external overflows to take the water to the sump, I installed a Durso stand pipe in order to reduce noise and now the noise is 99% gone. The Durso stand pipe was created by Richard Durso, it consists on a simple device that costs just a few bucks and can be installed in few minutes. I really recommend it , if you want more info about the Durso stand pipe, you can do a search on
reefcentral and you will find the link to his site and lots of other info.
