Drones that are here:

Chapter 2

The Lu'In city of Chunai.....

In the last few centuries the megaopolis that was Chunaitizwaji had degenerated into several cities, ruins, or has been burried or eroded away by the harsh weather.  Chunai, the largest ore harvesting and refining city  in one hundred kilometers, was a product of this.  The Lu'In here mostly work in ore refineries,  the depots that store ore, and ore waste product disposal centers.  There also was a public arsenal to supply the public militia in case of emergency.  Little did the Lu'In know that even their best weapons could not save them from
the terror that arrived because of the plants....
In the last few weeks bizzare plants began to appear in the city.  The plants produced a super-dense oxygen gas that harmed the nitrogen-breathing Lu'In's bodies.  The oddest thing was that many plants do not grow in the desert-like enviroment near Chunai.  Also in the tunnels beneath Chunai the Lurkers, the Lu'In that live in the former mass transit tunnels under the city have reported the plants there too and large, insectoid creatures have appeared down there, eating glass and plastic also killing some Lurkers.
To stop the plants, the public militia launched a blizkrieg of attacks to destroy the plants.  Some where destroyed, others regenerated, and some were unphased.  Some from the militia went into the labyrinth that was the system of tunnels under the city and some returned yet they were so frightened they could not talk for six days, even after that they did not speak because their minds blocked out the maddening savagery that went on in the tunnels.
One day the communication center noticed that some ore trucks disappeared and also noticed that whatever took out the trucks was slowly moving toward the city.  The operator noticed that there were thousands of blips of radar.  He contacted the captain of the public militia immediatly.  He the captain who wanted to fight decided to mobilize the militia.  Soon a small squadron was deployed to engage this new foe.  A swarm of tank-like devices and dune buggy-like vehicles were on a one-way course with the swarm of Legion drones.
The drones were steadily heading to the plants and to a potential food source.  Some were in flight and some were on foot, all had the same objective.  The militia's vehicles were in formation as the swarm  swept forward toward them in an orgy of screeches, clicks, and other sickening noises.  The militia fired upon the drones, having little effect, the drones still were on offense  and then the bloodshed began.  The drones struck the vehicles and sliced through their metal forms, with their mighty pinsirs like hot knives through butter.  Some drones died from being fired upon and they fell to the ground like rocks and yet, the others still battled on fiercily, tearing apart the vehicles and taking the lives of the drivers in one quick, unforgiving blow.  Then with a rumble a huge Legion burst forth from the ground and saw the vehicles of the militia firing away, striking its children, in a fury of anger the queen revealed her energy core and released a multitude of plasma whips that struck the vehicles of the militia with great might.   In the setting sun the queen and her brood had finished off this branch of the militia and moved forward toward the city.

Chapter 3

In the night several  alarms blared as several mobile weapons platforms ascended to their mighty metal legs.  The glass covering the main body of the machine, gave off a glare from the light of the three moons of the planet's neighbor.  The gun and missile ports on each of the deadly tripod-like machines were open, and ready to open fire on the legion of destruction that would descend upon the city.  The pilots knew their suicidal objective.  They knew they would probably die in an all-out bloody conflict with the intruders.   They gladly accepted that this maybe their final day, but they knew if they did not fight they'd still die.  In a collective thought that gathered in the minds, hearts, and souls of these brave beings they knew they must stop the plague that is Legion before it could commence its bloody assault.
The swarm continued to move toward the city, some in flight, some in tunnels underneath the dry, clay-like soil, and lastly some just stampeded to their objective.  The queen was in the midst of them, knowing that she would be the one that would give the Legion the advantage in battle.  She moved with her brood toward the city that bared their plants and had an immense supply of ore for their consumption.  The great engine of destruction that was Legion drew nearer to its target without hesitation.
The turrent stations around the city were armed and ready.  The weapons platforms were the backup for the turrents.  The ground troops were deployed with molecular-disrupting guns and  some were housed in small tank-like artiliary units.
They were ready for their moment.  They were ready to stare into the eyes of the hellish beasts that were ready to converge upon their home.  Then they saw the black cloud and heard its wailing marriage of all horrible noises imaginable, it was there!
The turrents had the enemy in its range and they fired upon the creatures with a heavy magnitude of power.  From the cloud, noises that rivaled those of the Devil itself erupted, and was accompanied by chunks of the drones flying outward from the impact site.  The flying drones raced forward, knowing what they must do the ones that were not taken out by turrent fire or by the fire produced from the weapons platforms,  struck at the turrents.  They hacked and slashed through the metal as some were blown off by the turrent's fire or blown off by the explosion accomanying the turrents dismantlement.  Drones burst through the ground, others charged at ground troops and the artiliary units, it was total anarchy.
The drones covered the platforms and began to eat the glass and metal and others just in sheer rage tore through the metal.  The Lu'In were outnumbered and outclassed.  They were locked in a losing battle with the hive-minded insectoid invaders but they would not give up.   A volley of missile fire tore through the swarm killing many of the drones.  It was a larger, betterly armed, mobile weapons platform and it dealt the drones a blow that rendered many lifeless.  Then the queen glared at the platform as the drones retreated to her for protection.  Her horn began to glow then with a blast of blue plasma, a beam was fired.  It struck the platform's leg, severing it and damaging the side of the main body.  Then with another, more concentrated blast the entire platform was destroyed.  In the night, Legion's victory was realized for a short time as the next threat was to be mobilized.
