BURLINGTON — Mr. J. Talmadge Isley,87, of 3319 Isley Drive, Snow Camp, died Saturday morning March 9, 2002 at his residence. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Nina Sharpe Isley, and the
son of the late John Moody Isley and Caroline Garrett Isley. He was retired from AT&T and a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Miss Betty Joyce Isley of Richmond, Va.; three sons, Mr. Larry M. Isley of Snow Camp, Mr. Ronald C. Isley of Burlington and Mr. Joe M. Isley of Snow Camp; a sister, Mrs. Alta Hargrove of Snow Camp; two brothers, Mr. B. Moody Isley of Liberty, and Mr. C. Worth Isley of Snow Camp; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Ricky Daryl Isley; and two brothers, Mr. J. Dean Isley and Mr. H. Wake Isley. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening. The casket will be placed in the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. BURLINGTON — Mr. Dennis Curtis Isley, 70, of 5955 N.C. 49 South, died at 11:10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro after one year of failing health, one week critical. A native of Alamance County, he was the
son of the late Elbert M. Isley and Nellie D. Albright Isley. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ronnie (Judy) Moize and Mrs. Ernie (Marie) Everett, all of Snow Camp; and five brothers, Mr. Vance (Georgie) Isley, Mr. Tommy (Jackie) Isley, and Mr. James (JoAnn) Isley, all of Burlington, Mr. Martin (Linda) Isley of Liberty, and Mr. Joe (Barbara) Isley of Hickory. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Annie D. Brown and Mrs. Ruby Lee Greeson; and a brother, Mr. Ernest A. Isley. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Friendship United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Alvin M. Horne, and the Rev. Steve Loy. The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence. BURLINGTON — Mr. Wilson Burgess Isley, 84, of 4257 Bellemont-Mt. Hermon Road, died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Myrtle Payne Isley, who survives, and the late Mrs. Greta Warren Isley, and the
son of Mr. Henry M. Isley and Mrs. Nannie Russell Isley, both deceased. He was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church. He was a retired brick mason and farmer. He attended Climax School and was a Navy veteran of World War II, with a tour of duty in the Philippine Islands. Survivors other than his wife of the home include three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Joyce) Sexton of Cary, Miss Linda Isley of Burlington and Ms. Laurie Thompson of Snow Camp; a stepdaughter, Mrs. J.M. (Elizabeth) Murray III of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Boone of Burlington; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Carrie Welch; and two brothers, Mr. Eugene Isley and Mr. Elmer Isley. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Rick Moser. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

H. > William Leroy > John Gorman)   BURLINGTON — Mr. Larry Richard Isley, 65, of 410 Shadowbrook Drive, died at 4:32 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Duke University Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Joann Robertson Isley, who survives, and the son of Mr. John Gorman Isley and Mrs. Lavonna Thompson Isley, both deceased. He was the owner and operator of Larry Isley’s Automotive in Alamance. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge and a lifetime member of the Sertoma Club. He had been involved in dirt-track racing for 45 years. He was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church. Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Lori (Tony) Swaney of Graham and Miss Amy S. Isley of the home; a brother, Mr. Don (Sharon) Isley of Alamance; and two stepgranddaughters. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Jacqueline Allred; and a brother, Mr. A. Lynn Isley. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Tommy Richardson, pastor of Bible Baptist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park. MONROE — Mr. Milliard Goley Isley, 87, of Monroe, N.C., died on Saturday, August 18, 2001 at the Smith Nursing Center. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ann Ross Isley, who survives, and the
son of George M. Isley and Jewell Garrett Isley, both deceased. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, and a retired public school principal and teacher of 38 years in Charlotte. He was a graduate of High Point College and UNC Chapel Hill. Survivors other than his wife of Matthews, N.C. include three stepchildren; six step-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Truth Isley Coon of Mebane; and two nieces, Mrs. Sylvia Euliss and Ms. Mauline Karkanawi, both of Graham. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Corinne Hinton Isley; and a sister, Ruby Isley Parker. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Charlotte. SNOW CAMP — Mr. Ricky Darrell Isley, 45, of 3319 Isley Drive, died at 2:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at the Murdock Center in Butner after a long illness. A native of Alamance County, he was the
son of Mr. and Mrs. John Talmadge (Nina) Isley, who survive. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his parents of the home include three brothers, Mr. Larry Monroe Isley and Mr. Joe M. Isley, both of Snow Camp and Mr. Ronald Clinton Isley of Burlington; a sister, Miss Betty Joyce Isley of Richmond, Va. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Friendship United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Alvin Horne. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the Friendship United Methodist Church, and at other times at the residence. Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.

Frederick Palmer Isley Sr. - (Malachi > Malachi II > Christian > Adam Leonard > Joseph A.)
GRAHAM — Mr. Frederick Palmer Isley Sr., 82, died Sept. 7, 2001, at home on 305 Banks St., Graham, at 7:45 a.m. He was the youngest child and last surviving
son of Joseph A. Isley and Estelle Ingle Isley, a pioneer Burlington family. He graduated from Broad Street High School and attended Elon College. A lifelong Methodist and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Graham for more than 50 years. He loved his Men’s Bible Class. He held many church offices including the Building and Finance Committee for the present church. A captain in World War II, he served in General Mark Clark’s headquarters. He held several medals including the Bronze Star. He was a Graham merchant for 56 years and proprietor of Isley’s Grocery. He was a charter member of the Graham Jaycees. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Elizabeth P. Isley; his son, Frederick P. Isley Jr. and wife, Mary F. of Seneca, S.C.; his daughter, Carla I. Harrison and husband, Rocky of Graham; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; his sisters, Mrs. Genevieve I. Burgess and Mrs. Jeanne I. Hobby, both of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters. He was much loved by his family and all of his customers. He will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Linwood Cemetery by the Rev. Paul Phillips. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 3 to 5 p.m. today, and at other times they will be at the residence. wife of the late Mr. John Garmon Isley and the son (should this be daughter?) of Mr. Alfred Scales Thompson and Mrs. Daisy Linens Thompson, both deceased. She was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Mr. Larry R. Isley and Mr. Don L. Isley, both of Burlington; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Allred; a son, Mr. Lynn Isley; and two brothers, Mr. Ralph Thompson and Mr. Ernest Thompson. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bellemont United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jeff Roberts. Burial will be in the church cemetery. son of Mr. Eusebious Luther Isley and Mrs. Dora Boggs Isley, both deceased. He was retired from J. Spencer Love Hosiery Center of Burlington Industries and was a member of Mountain View Ruritan Club. He was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church. Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Otis (Jolane) Bailey of Burlington; a son, Mr. Larrie L. Isley of SnoCamp; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Crabtree, Mrs. Mary B. Moore and Mrs. Annie D. Aiken, all of Burlington; a brother, Mr. William H. Isley of Graham; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Doris Long. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mt. daughter of the late Jesse Everette Isley and Lettie Jones Isley. She was a member of Haw River Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Nancy A. Crawford of the home; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Brenda Dover Wiley of Rock Hill, S.C.; a stepson, Mr. Claude Franklin Dover Jr. of Clarksville, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Chatman of Yanceyville and Mrs. Bernice Coble of Burlington; and two brothers, Mr. Ben Isley and Mr. Hal Isley, both of Haw River. BURLINGTON — Mr. Garr Coble Isley, 84, of 4833 Friendship-Patterson Mill Road, died at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Hospice Home of Burlington after an illness of five and a half years. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Lela B. Isley, who survives, and the
son of Mr. Lemuel M. Isley and Mrs. Callie Coble Isley, both deceased. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and was retired from Kayser-Roth Experimental Division. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Dr. Michael Isley of Orlando, Fla. and Mr. Patrick Neal Isley of Cary; and a grandchild. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jesse Staton Jr., pastor of McMannons United Methodist Church and the Rev.
