James-Wallace Family
About this Web Site
This web site has been compiled by Nichola Wallace (the Wally who organized the latest family reunion).

I would like it to be used by the family to get to know each other and to keep in touch. Please feel free to send your comments and anything you would like posted. I can then let the family internet users know
The Wallace Name
In Scotland, the name 'Wallace' was derived from the Latin term 'Wallensis' meaning 'foreigner' which was applied to the Welsh and the Britons of Strathclyde. The earliest Wallace in Ireland arrived around the early 1600's and settled initially in County Down, whence the family spread to Counties Monaghan, Dublin, Limerick and Wexford. The James-Wallace family in Australia came from County Wexford as told by Judy Wallace in the book FROM WEXFORD THEY CAME. There are some copies still available.
