Want to eat some local food, made by local Muar people? Or are you just plain lazy to cook? Or that food you heard being sold at that place is just irrisistable? Here's where and what you can eat in Muar. Experience the food...experience the environment...
-
MEDAN IKAN BAKAR PARIT JAWA - The name of the place speaks for it self. It means Parit Jawa's Grilled Fish Centre, you can find delicious grilled fish and seafood is always cheap and fresh in Muar. (Contributed by Mr. Tee Choo).
-
TANJUNG EMAS - This is my first hand experience. There are a lot of food stalls here and they sell the famous Mee Bandung Muar, Rojak Petis and some varieties of Malay and Chinese style rice and noodles dishes. You can eat while enjoying the scenery of Muar River and its estuary.
-
OLD WOODEN SHOP AT JALAN SULAIMAN JUNCTION TO THE STADIUM - I don't know why, but my father like to have breakfast here. He always have Mee Rebus and Satay. This is the tradisional Muarian breakfast (In other places people have this for lunch or dinner!) I find the food to be quite good too, the place however is a very old wooden shop.
-
OLD NOODLE SOUP STALL IN OLD SHOP LOT AT JALAN SALLEH TRAFFIC LIGHT - For the Chinese community, this ia a very popular noodle stall. I've never seen the stall empty. There's always people eating there and you can see the noodle soup steaming hot out of the big periok. Interesting. However, I don't think it is halal for me to eat.
-
GERAI ASAM PEDAS PAK YAHYA, PARIT JAWA - Pak Yahya with his wife open their stall and start selling at 12.00am....yes that 12.00 midnight, and yet you'll see a crowd of people coming for his special Gulai Ikan Asam Jawa. His speciality Gulai Ikan Asam Jawa, state of the art taste of authentic gulai asam jawa par excellence. Served hot with hot rice. Cannot be missed, otherwise you have missed a significant part of Muar experience...sluurrrpp!!!
-
RESTAURANT AT JALAN SULAIMAN NEAR TAXI STAND - This place is always crowded!! but you can still get your foodnot too long. The small restaurant at this corner sells the classic Mee Rebus Muar and Satay and also Apam Cakes with black bean paste ( I can't recall the name) for breakfdast, lunch and throughout the day. A KILLER COMBINATION !!!!!
-
TELUR PINDANG STALL BEFORE BENTAYAN BUS STOP - Yes!!! They are selling the classic frash telur pindang daily. The location is exactly on the first row of the fruit small shops and some food stalls before the Bentayan Bus Stop.
-
ROTI CANAI RESTAURANT AT THE CORNER OF JALAN ABD RAHMAN AND JALAN IBRAHIM - Harry Fernandez, a Muarian now staying in Australia wrote in on 24-Nov-2001 and highlighted a restaurant at the corner of Jalan Abd Rahman and Jalan Ibrahim - makes the best roti canai ever ... "say hello to Mansur & gang!! Al fresco dining at its best ... drool!!"
-
MEE BANDUNG AT THE MOST LEFT CORNER STALL OF THE JALAN HJ JAIB AND JALAN BAKRI (TRAFFIC LIGHT) - Azreen Basir highlighted this stall sells good mee bandung (but this mee bandung is prepared hot and flavored hot).
If you have found some place where you really enjoyed dining out in Muar, do not hesitate to share it with others. Good food is for everybody to enjoy. Tell me especially, I and my wife LOVE good food.
