MANCHESTER AIRPORT OPERATIONS
Manchester Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in North America. Many major airlines now call MHT one of their stops and offer many services. Airlines include United, U.S.Airways, Delta, Continental, Northwest, Southwest. Air Alliance, a division of Air Canada has added flights to/from Toronto making Manchester Airport now an "International" Airport. In addition, UPS and FedEx fly some of their major flights including their biggest aircraft out of MHT. Manchester's terminal provide some of the latest in copnveinance for travelers including a restaurant, newstand/bookstore, and a McDonald's as well.

Police / Security services are provided by contract with the Rockingham County Sheriff's Deprtment. Althoguh not completely in Rockingham County, RCSO's "Airport Division" handles Law Enforcement and Security for all of MHT and the bordering roads (including Hillsborough County). Crash-Fire-Rescue Services are provided by contarct with Centurion Fire Protection, who also handles CFR for Worcester's Airport and others. They are officially refered to as Manchester Crash-Fire-Rescue Department. Maintenance services are handled by the Manchester Airport Authority. Additional Security for gates are handled by private contarctors.

Manchester Airport's Tower is a regional tower providing Approach/Departure, Tower and ground operations for not just MHT, but also Nashua/Boire Field, Laconia and Concord Airports. They also assist the Pease International Tradeport. When a plane is preparing to depart from Manchester, they first contact the tower on the Clearence channel, give the tower their flightplans, etc. Then upon leaving the terminal, they operate on the ground frequency until they reach the runway. From there, they operate on the Tower frequency, receive the approval for takeoff and operate on "Tower" until clear the immediate area of the runway. At a certain point, they will switch to "Departure" and finish traffic w/Manchester airport finally switching to "Boston Center" which is the High Altitude/interairport center in Nashua,NH. They will be in cotatc with them until they reach the next airport. Planes on approach do this in the opposite order but also copy the info on the ATIS before calling.

A final note, Mnahcetser Airport is actually located in two communities "And" two counties. The southern part is located in Londonderry (Rockingham County) and the Northern in Mancehster (Hillsborough County). As a result, Londonderry Fire/EMS responds to calls at the main terminal and southern facilities for fires and medicals. Manchester Fire &/or Rockingham Ambulance (Mancehster EMS) respond to the Ammon Terminal and Northern facilities. Both respond to major incidents at MHT.
