MANCHESTER TRUNKED OPERATIONS

Manchester's EDACS trunked system requires an EDACS capable trunk tracking scanner with the frequencies entered in what is called "Logical Channel Order" or LCO (sometimes called Logical Channel Numbering or LCN). The below list of frequencies shows the frequencies in their LCO. The control channel (which has constant data) should not be locked out of the scan mode in most scanners as it checks the control channel for which frequency units are talking on. In addition, there are two formats of trunk ID's that trunk tracking scanners use. They are "Decimal" and "AFS". Decimal is shown below as a 4-digit number(0137). AFS is shown as 2-digits followed by 3-digits(11-011). One note, the "All-Call" talkgroups are seldom used but may become active if there is an emergent need to call all units within that Fleet. Finally, with all 800MHz systems, the FCC allocated a series of Nationwide Mutual Aid "Interagency" that must be placed in the system. They operate in conventional mode and always a PL of 156.7.
