Society
Wolves are governed by individual packs, all packs making up the whole of the tribe. Each pack is ruled by the alpha pair, a mated male and female who are the strongest, smartest, healthiest, and most honorable of all the pack. Every member of the pack defers to the alpha pair, and are extremely loyal. Other positions within the pack are:
Beta pair - a similar mated pair who assist the alphas with running the pack.
Shaman - usually has some sort of healing prowess or powers and is responsible for keeping the pack healthy and is responsible for the spirituality of the tribe.
Father - the eldest male of the pack, looked upon as a great grandfather and wise sage whos wisdom is paramount to the pack.
Den Mother - an elder female who is considered the wisest of the females, often giving advice to the alpha and beta females, and generally sought after for advice, birthings, recipes, pack midwife, etc.
Lead Warrior - the head of the warriors who is responsible for helping the alpha male make tactical decisions, trains other warriors, and keeps the pack as a whole safe.
Warriors - males and females with fighting abilities who keep the pack safe, hunt for the pack, and win new territory when it is needed.
Singer - one who communicates with other tribes and knows all the sacred songs and songs for communication.

Appearance
Wolves look like regular, Earth wolves but have a wider variety of coat colors and patterns, and a wide array of eye colors from blue to reddish brown to black, though the most common eye color is gold and stands upright. At the base of the skull longer fur grows, looking much like alpaca fur (long and soft). This fur is styled differently to each individuals taste, but is mostly worn long and loose, braided, or tied back. Metal jewelry is highly favored among the wolves as they do no metal smithing of their own, but such jewelry is traded at a high price and therefore hard to come by.
Those who do own pieces of metal jewelry prize them as their most precious posession. Most wolves wear bone, wood, hide, or stone decorations, though, and moon amulets are common.
Tribal tattoos painted into the fur or actually Tattooed into the skin are worn by all adults in the tribe, denoting pack, pack position, spirituality, and heritage. Each pack has it's own tribal symbol and symbol color that are worn proudly on the right shoulder, individual family symbols are on the left shoulder, pack position is on the top of the right hand, and sacred symbols are on the forehead, showing clearly every wolf's dedication to their goddesses. No clothes are worn (or needed), save a loincloth for modesty. Females breasts are not apparant unless lactating, and mothers proudly display their breasts openly in graditude to the Mother moon, and pride in her children.

Pack
Family is highly important to the Wolves. Everything in wolf society revolves around the pack, and especially the family. A wolve's greatest joy is it's own family, and it's pack, and it will do anything to keep it's family happy and healthy. Several family units make up a pack, and all families in the pack are related in one way or another. Everything in the pack is shared, and no secrets are kept. Secrets are for decievers, and those with no honor.
This is not the way for a tribe for loners, and wolves expressing no interest in having a mate or children are looked down upon, and often shunned and expelled. Those who are unable to have children, the widowed, or those who are meant to be childless (such as the Priestess) are accepted and treated with kindness.

Mating and Sexuality
Wolves mate for life. The tribe is no exception. When a young male wolf is of an age, he will venture outside of the pack on a long journey to find a mate. This is common, and expected (as most packs are extended family). When a young, unfamiliar wolf approaches a pack the intruder is challenged and must fight to gain acceptance into the pack. Should he win, he may stay until he finds a mate. If a mate is found, the intruder may stay permanently, becoming part of the pack. If no mate is found, the intruder moves to the next pack. If the intruder loses the battles, he must move on immediately to the next pack or be thrown out.
Once a mate is found, they are recognized by the family and the rest of the pack in a special moon ceremony, and welcomed into the tribe. The two stay mated all their lives, devoting themselves entirely to one another. Adultery just does not happen as once a wolve is mated, he/she has no further interest in the opposite sex save his/her mate. This is simply the way Wolven genetics work. Should one mate die, the other usually follows from grief. If not, he/she will not mate again and will be taken care of by the rest of the pack.
Sex is sacred thing to wolves, being something that unites the mated and brings forth pups. There is no small magic in sex, and the wolves know it, and highly discourage the young from "fooling around" lest they anger the pack with using such a sacred act as a toy or recreation. Those who are not mated and are caught fooling around are shamed in front of the whole pack and forced to make amends to the Pack and Tribe. There is nothing worse to a wolve than a bastard child, a child born of the unmated. They fear the child as being cursed, and will banish mother and child from their pack lest the pair bring the wrath from the entire pack.
When it comes to sexuality, wolves are the most strict of possibly all the tribes. Those who use sex "incorrectly", or have "different" sexual tastes including and homosexual, are considered to be imperfect and malformed, and are beaten and chased out of the pack should they be discovered. If any pedophiles are discovered, they are killed outright.

Misc
Fighting and Battles:
Wolves are natural warriors and love to fight. Fighting keeps the warriors in top shape and training and keeps wolves' natural urges to bust some heads in check. It also helps to keep the social order of the pack. Fighting is usually friendly and good natured, simple brawls to test eachother's strength and skill. But when real fights do break out, the fighting is closely regulated by the rest of the pack and honor is key. A dishonorable warrior is shunned by the rest of the pack, and a dishonorable fight is broken up and the warriors seperated. Real fights are taken very seriously in wolve society.
Territory:
Packs live in individual territories based upon the size of the pack. When a pack starts to become too large, battles will ensue with neighboring packs over territory rights. These battles are often bloody, but seldom fatal. Fatal battles can occur, though, if both packs are equal in size and a compromise cannot be reached, or the packs are rivals.
The ancestral, native home of the wolves are the great forests. Packs are distributed evenly throughout the territory, and will only lay claim to new territory if the clan as a whole begins to become too large.
Communication:
Communication is a key factor to keeping a pack healthy. Parents always talk to their children, never ignoring them when they have something important to say. Adults talk to one another, and though there is gossip, the truth is always sniffed out before talk goes anywhere. Gossipers are not tolerated in the tribe, and a busy-body will be taken to task if too many falsehoods are whispered. Wolves know when to shut up, and when speak, and always give another their fair chance to talk. Packs communicate with each other via their Singers who relay news, warnings, and sacred songs.
Language and Names:
The wolven language is made up of natural wolve noises such as squeeks, yips, howls, barks, growls, and whines. Whiney words are words used to supplicate and show submission, growly words are used to show dominance, anger, and agression, yippy, squeeky words are to show happiness and joy, howly words are to show joy, sorrow, or sacred ideas, and barky noises are for warning, usually exclamations.
Wolves are given two names in their lives. A birth name, and an adult name after they have gone through their rites of passage. Names are two sided, the person having a formal name, and an informal name.
Formal names are words in the Wolven toungue that encompass the person's personality . The formal name is usually kept throughout the life as an honor to the parents, but may be changed later in life if the sound no longer fits. The second name is a description name, telling of things that the person is remembered for, such as Talks To Much, or Bloody Fist, or Sacred Howl, or Eyes Of Ice, etc. This name will change after the rite of passage into adulthood to another descriptive name befitting the new adult. The second name is used most often between friends and family.
