=Harakim Tips= |
I am actually a harakim (or hara as they are more commonly known) myself... yet not a great one since no one taught me what to do in beginning. So, here are a few simple tips and info to keep in mind for anyone who plans to be a great magician (As I once hoped for). |
=Introduction= |
=Mother of all Spells= |
At first, you may feel that the braveness, willpower and intuition skills do not really help... little do you know that these three skills are actually the main source for good spells. Braveness helps spells and fighting, over all, a good one to keep up. Willpower increases your focus, thus providing you with a increased chance of successfully casting you spell. Intuition actually adds to the power of the spell itself. Around late captain, thank about arching. Always keep your willpower and intuition five points higher than your main spells (bless, magic shield, protection and ghost companion (GC)). I have compared my spells with another harakim and whilst we both have the same spell-skills his spells are better then mine, the reason is that he has 10 more intuition, willpower and braveness than me. Therefore, don't forget about your braveness, willpower and intuition. What is the point of having good spells when you cannot cast them because you lost focus? What is the point of maxing your spells when you can use the experience to increase your intuition more cheaply thus making your spells more powerful at a lower skill point? When you reach late captain or early major, try to get 70 bless, magic shield, GC and protection. Try to keep your offensive spells (curse, enhance) five less then the main ones. Meanwhile, keeping your stun/blast 5-10 less then your curse and enhance. Don't need to worry about stun/blast so much since once you got a good enough base bless it'll enchant it by a lot. Once this is achieved start working on your willpower and intuition... and it takes tons experience points once over 65 for either. |
=First Steps as a baby Harakim= |
Here are a few points to keep in mind when starting a hara. Avoid close up fighting as much as possible. It's hard to raise strength and agility and therefore difficult to reach new armor and weapon classes. Remember to turn your back to the wall next to the doorway when entering locations, this way your ghost companion will enter the building (or room) first, therefore the monsters inside will target your GC and not you. Do not forget to keep both yourself and your GC spelled with all the main spells (Bless, protection, enhance and magic shield for self) whenever you think you may be attacked. When you received the bless spell you should double bless yourself, you receive more benefits this way as the first casting actually increases your bless spell. When you first begin playing, there are two roots for you to chose. 1) Increase strength and agility to get leather armor (12 str. and 12 agi.) then work on you GC and your defensive spells (Protection, magic shield (ms)). OR 2) Increase protection, GC and MS first, get it to a decent base skill then get leather armor. Either way is fine, though I prefer option 2 since then your GC would benefit from the protection spell also. |
=Spell theory= |
My spell theory is always keep your willpower and intuition 5 points higher than your basic spells (Bless, protection and ms). Work on defensive spells first as a hara should avoid face-to-face fighting as much as possible. Keep your offensive spell(s) (Curse) five points lower than your basic ones. Don't worry too much about improving blast/stun even though it dose direct damage. (If you are turning purple, that’s the other way around). If you double bless yourself (as I said in the previous section) your stats will be much higher for all your spells. Don't put all your experience in bless however, you need to keep a balance since bless affects your base skill level, therefore if your base level is good your modified level will be even better. |
=Close Combat Fighting skills= |
Fighting face-to-face is not a wise move for a hara. Hara's are magic users who use offensive spells much more than gory fighting. Rank determines when you should worry about fighting skills (dagger, strength and agility). At low ranks (Private to Lance Corporal) you should be wearing cloth armor but aiming to get leather armor just before you become a Corporal. Only once you are in leather armor should proceed to Templar outlaws. While in your next quest work towards steel dagger (15 dag.).From then on do not worry to much about your armor until staff-master sergeant when you should start wearing bronze (16str. 16 agi.) and gold dagger (30 dag.). Use all your experience for better spells such as magic shield which increase your armor value (watch your armor value though as magic shield fades over time, try to keep it topped up as much as possible). |
