RULES
No hitting, spitting, biting or swearing No throwing toys, balls, etc. in the house No wearing shoes in the house unless medically necessary. We need to keep the floor clean for all the children and the games we play. All participants will help pick up toys and play materials Wash hands before and after eating, toileting and after coming indoors Gum is not allowed in the house
DISCIPLINE
The following methods of discipline will be used at daycare:
Encourage children to solve the problem themselves Intervention and discussion Re-direction to another play area. Loss of privileges Child Time-out
Time outs are used as the last form of discipline unless the child just needs some quiet self time for settling down. If I feel there is a chronic behavioral issue that needs attention I will let you know so that you and I are handling it in the same manner and the child then has continuity in their discipline toward the unfavorable behavior. These types of behaviors might include such things as biting, use of bad words, chronic hitting, etc.
ABUSE AND NEGLECT
I am required by state law to report any suspicions of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.
EMERGENCY
In the case of an emergency, necessary first aid will be administered by me. The ambulance will be called and your child will be transported to the hospital. YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY. I am fully trained in First Aid and CPR. In case of a fire, we will meet at the end of the driveway in front of the house. We will have monthly fire drills to practice this evacuation.
PROVIDER SUBSTITUTES
When I cannot care for your children for a short duration (less than 2 hours), I will make an attempt to secure services of a substitute listed below. Parent will not pay money to the substitute. Parent acknowledges and agrees that I may have any of the following persons care for child at any time without prior notice:
John D. Carlton III (Providers Husband)
The above substitute is on file with the Office of Child Care Licensing, which does background checks in certain situations.
DEPARTURES
Children will not be allowed to leave the premises with anyone except their parents and those designated by the parents on the enclosed forms. If you are requesting someone other than yourself to pick up your child, they will be required to show a drivers license and sign a release form. I will not release a child unless I have received authorization prior to their arrival.
ITEMS TO BRING
An extra set of clothing to be left at daycare or a set each day in a bag (even older children can have a toileting accident or spills) Diapers and wipes for children not yet toilet trained Pull-ups and wipes for toilet training children Any special toy, or security blanket your child utilizes Shoes, socks, clothing needed to go outside (including snow wear in winter weather) Anything else that may make your child comfortable at daycare Children should expect to share items that are brought from home because the other children will be naturally curious to "explore" the item themselves. Please limit the amount of toys brought so they are easier to keep track of. I am not responsible for replacing lost or broken toys.
TRIAL PERIOD AND TERMINATION OF CARE
A two week trial period will be given, upon enrollment, to determine the suitability of the arrangements. At the end of the two weeks if the situation does not work for either party care will be terminated. I require a two week written notice if you intend to withdraw your child from my care after this trial period. If parent does not give a written two week notice, fees for two weeks are still required. Two week notice means two full weeks of Monday-Friday Care. If you terminate in writing on a Wed. then the next two full weeks of care M-F apply. Absences over one week without notification or payment of fees will result in an automatic withdrawal. You will still be responsible for two weeks of fees. Re-admittance will include all back pay including late fees.
I believe these policies and rules will provide your child with a safe, clean, fun and educational daycare experience. Please feel free to discuss with me any concern, questions or comments you may have at any time. I would like to make this daycare experience pleasant for the parents; as well as it is for the children. |
