INTRODUCTION

" "The Last Incas" is a contemporary, ethnic, musical band that initiated its activities in mid-April of 1998. The band arose as a result of the growing restlessness of a group of young Peruvian musicians, motivated by making known to today's generation the rich Peruvian culture through modern rhythms, which incorporate the musical language of their ancestors. In this way, "The Last Incas" promote the revalidation of indigenous pre-columbian instruments in a modern musical style that transmits all of the essence of the Andean world.

After the task of forming the band, investigation of instruments and musical styles, and constant reflection, they have achieved the consolidation of their own style, one that synthesizes the various musical tendencies of Peru, Latinamerica, and the world.

The short time that has passed since the band's formation has been sufficient for their musical proposal to find a warm and welcome acceptance via the media of Peru. At the end of 1998, "The Last Incas", without having publicly presented in concert, occupied a position as the "New Band of the Year" on the radio program "Sicuri Force", transmitted by the National Radio of Peru station.

CONCEPTUAL BASE

In the context of rediscovering human spirituality, mythology and the telluric Andean world permit the union of new spiritual concepts and the ancient, millennial western culture with modern musical expression. As an expression of a new age that includes this legacy, THE LAST INCAS aspire to enrich the world's music in this ethnic-contemporary proposal.

OBJECTIVES

1. To transmit the cultural richness of the Andean world through our ethnomusical proposal.

2. To contribute to the construction of an alternative style of music that is in agreement with these times, permits dialogue with the new generation and brings them closer to the cultural richness of the Andes, promoting an identification with their own Andean culture.

3. To contribute to the reflection of themes and problems related to cultural identification, Peruvian history and harmony with nature and the ecosystem.
