These breeds are judged highly on the precise placings of these colours - according to their breed standard - and they will occur penalties when these markings are not correctly placed. (with some markings being automatic disqualifications)

Many of these breeds are what I describe as "not breeding true".  By saying this I mean that you can have two show marked parents together and may not get any babies worthy of putting on the show table.  On the other hand, you may have two parents with their markings totally in the wrong place, yet produce beautifully marked babies.  I guess you can call it a bit of a "lucky dip" situation, a "hit and a miss"

Himalayans, on the other hand, have a differnt type of gene for their markings - it is not a "hit and a miss", himalayan parents when bred together will produce himalayan babies, as simple as that.  Of course there will be the occasional baby that doesnt colour up on its foot, or has a smutty coat, but in my opinion, they are alot easier to breed a baby worth of showing - no luck to it (this does not mean they are a best in show winning cavy, but they can still meet the breed standard criteria).
