Chapter  5 Adam was right - his part wrapped up the next day.  The cast and crew all attended a big party at Adrian’s house that night.  Kari stepped out through the backdoor into the huge flower garden.  It was the most beautiful thing that she had ever seen.  She followed the cobble stone path as it wound through the grounds, stopping on a small bridge that crossed over a  pond.  She leaned on the rail and watched the huge gold fish glide through the still water.  Mesmerized by their movements, she didn’t notice that she was not alone.   Adrian watched her for a moment before taking his place at her side, "Peaceful, isn’t it?" "Yeah.", she simply answered not taking her eyes off of the water.  All she could think about was how much Jeff would love it.  "Does he miss you as much?", he boldly asked. "Excuse me?", she asked puzzled by his question.  "I’m sorry.  I just thought by the way that you were lost in thought,  you must be missing someone.", he stated.  He was very perceptive. She smiled and said, "I hope he does."  She turned her gaze once again to the water.  "He’d be crazy not to.", he said quietly, never taking his eyes off of her.   "Huh?", she asked pretending not to hear what he had said. "I was merely stating that whoever he is, he would be crazy not to miss you.", he said.  She blushed as she smiled shyly at him.  She jumped slightly as her phone rang from her pocket.  "I’m sorry.", she smiled as she pulled the phone from her pocket and said, "Hello?"  It was Jeff.   "Hey baby." Her eyes lit up and her smile did too, "Hey."   "I was beginning to think I’d never talk to you again.", he laughed, "I miss you." Adrian smiled and excused himself, but not before saying, "I guess he does."  Kari watched him walk away. "Kari?" "I’m sorry.  I couldn’t hear you."   "I said I miss you." "I miss you too.  Like crazy." "So, get on a plane and come home."   "You know I can’t do that."   "I know, but you can’t blame me for trying." They talked a little while longer.    "Well, Hun, I have to go catch a flight."   "Okay.  I’ll talk to you soon.  I love you."   "I love you too, baby.  Bye." Her smile was huge as she pushed the end button on her phone and sighed happily.  "Wow!  Jeff would love this.", Adam said startling her.   "Yeah, he would.", she returned. "Why are you so happy?", he asked. "I finally got to talk to Jeff.", she revealed. Adam smiled.  They returned to the party.  Every now and then she would catch Adrian watching her.  And each time, he would smile at her. Adam leaned over to her, "I think Duncan MacLeod, of the clan MacLeod, has the hots for you."  He smiled a devilish toothy grin. She swatted his arm, "Don’t be silly.  Besides, I’m very happily taken.  Remember?" "Oh, that’s right.  The freak boy with the purple hair.", he responded.  They both busted out laughing.  They enjoyed the rest of the party. Kari saw Adam off at the airport the next morning before heading off to the set.  She was going to miss him for he had been a lot of company to her.  They had become great friends in such a short time. "Now, keep my boy in line for me.", she said hugging him just before he boarded his plane.  "You bet.  Take care and I’ll be in touch.", he said kissing her on the cheek.  She waved to him as he stepped through the door and onto the plane.          Last Chaper ..*..
