Chapter 5
They pulled up in the garage and she shut the car off.  "I’ll just wait here.", Jeff said.  "You can come in.  Besides, it may take a while to find it.", she said to her own astonishment.  She was still fighting with her own conscience.  This was not her typical behavior.  She would never have brought some guy she just met to her house.  But in her heart she knew that she would be safe.  She knew he was different.  "You have a nice house!", Jeff yelled to Sky who was searching her sisters room for that particular pair of jeans.  "What a mess!", she said to herself.  Just then the phone rang.  She cursed under her breath as she tripped over a boot that was lying in the floor.
"Hello?", she answered in a some what angry voice.
"Hey, never mind.  I found it.", Josie said still yelling over the music.
"So, I drove all the way home for nothing."
"Oh, like you weren’t going home anyway.  At least now you don’t have
to drive all the way back to town."
"Maybe I wasn’t going home.  Did you ever think of that?"
"You always go home after work."
"Whatever.  Be careful on your way home."
"I don’t know what time I’ll be there.  I met this really cute guy."
"Like that suprises me", she said rolling her eyes.
"What?", Josie yelled into the phone.
   "Nothing.  Bye."
She hung up the phone and walked out into the hallway to find Jeff looking at the many pictures on the wall.  "That’s Josie.", Sky said pointing to a picture of the two of them.  "She’s pretty.", he said, "I guess beauty runs in the family."  If anyone else would have thrown her that line, it would have made her sick.  But coming from him, she accepted the compliment.  "Well, it turns out, she had it all along.  So we came all the way out here for nothing.", she said apologetically.  "Not for nothing.", he said, "I get to learn more about you now."  "What is your freakish fascination with me?", she said wishing she could pull those words right back into her mouth.  Jeff looked at her with astonishment.  "I don’t know, I guess the same freakish fascination you have with me.", he said looking her in the eyes.  She broke away from his gaze, "Well, if a learning experience is what you want, than that’s what you’ll get."  He looked at her puzzled for a moment, then he smiled.  "Just what am I gonna learn?", he asked with a sheepish grin.  "I’m going to tell you every single detail of my life, of me, then we’ll see if you still are fascinated.", she said playfully.  "I can’t imagine not being fascinated.", he said.  "I’ll be right back.  I’ve gotta get out of these scrubs.", she said as she went into her bathroom to change.  She put on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt.  She pulled her hair down from the bun and shook it out a little.  "Much better", she said to herself as she walked into her room. She was startled when she saw Jeff sitting on her bed thumbing  through a photo album.  "What are you doing?", she asked as she sat next to him on the bed.  "Learning", he said not taking his eyes off of the book.  She was  pretending to look with  him, but instead her eyes were memorizing every inch of  him.  His profile, his hair, the way he breathed.  "I didn’t notice before, but you’ve still got blood in your hair.", she said.  "I do?", he asked.  He went to the bathroom mirror to check it out.  ‘Oh great.", he thought to himself, ‘I’ve been walking around looking like this?’   "You can take a shower if you want?", she offered.  "No, that’s okay.  I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.", he said refusing politely.  He turned to look at her.  He momentarily lost the ability to breathe when he realized just how beautiful she looked.  He didn’t think she could be anymore beautiful than he had thought when he first met her.  But she had proven him wrong. "No, really.  It’s okay.", she said handing him a towel.  "Thanks.  You sure you don’t mind?", he asked.  "I’m sure.  Now just do it before I change my mind.", she said smiling at him.  He closed the door.  Sky exhaled loudly when she heard the water start running.  "I can’t believe I’m doing this.", she thought to herself, "Now he’s in my shower.  But he’s not going to end up in my bed.  That’s where I draw the line."
