Chapter 7 They all sat down at the table and explained everything. "And to think, people watch soap operas to get this kind of drama.", Josie said causing them all to laugh, "What are the odds. My sister finally brings a guy home for the night and I’ve got his brother in my room." Sky kicked her under the table. "Oww!", Josie blurted out. Sky pretended like nothing happened. "Who wants breakfast?", she asked as she pushed her chair back and stood up. "I could eat.", Matt said. "Like I didn’t know that was coming.", Jeff said. Sky cooked them a big breakfast for which they were very grateful. Not once during the morning had she made eye contact with Jeff. She still couldn’t believe that he had spent the night in her bed, even though nothing had happened. "I’m gonna go take a shower before we take you guys back to the hotel.", Sky said as she turned to go to her room. Jeff grabbed her arm, "What’s wrong?" "Nothing. Why?", she asked innocently still not looking directly at him. "I don’t know. You just seem different this morning. Like I’ve done something.", he said with concern in his voice. "No. I’m fine.", she answered. "Then why won’t you look at me? Is it because I slept in your bed?", he asked boldly. "No", she said looking him directly in the eyes, "it’s because you slept on the other side of the bed." And with that she walked into her room, leaving him standing in the doorway dumbfounded. "What the hell did I just say?", she thought to herself as she shut the bathroom door, "You’re losing it Sky. How are you going to pretend that didn’t happen?" She took a shower and got dressed. She had put her make up on and was drying her hair when Josie walked in. "You almost ready?", Josie asked. "All done.", Sky answered as she ran the brush through her hair for the last time. "So, how was he?", Josie asked. "Josie!?!", Sky said sounding shocked, "nothing happened." "Yeah, right. Look, I’m not a little girl anymore. You can talk to me about these things.", Josie said trying to get to the real story. "I know you’re not. But really, nothing happened.", Sky said. "Why not?", Josie questioned. "I don’t know. I was so bound and determined that I wasn’t going to sleep with him. Then when I woke up this morning and it hadn’t happened, I was a little disappointed. It kind of made me feel a little undesirable.", Sky revealed to her sister. "You are anything but undesirable. Look at you.", Josie said pointing to the mirror, "It’s just your luck though. You finally loosen up a bit and the one guy you bring home happens to be a perfect gentleman." They both laughed. Meanwhile Jeff sat back down at the table with his brother. "I just don’t get it.", Jeff said shaking his head. "Get what?", Matt asked. "I was the perfect gentleman. Never even touched her and now she won’t even look at me.", Jeff said. "Maybe that’s the problem. Maybe you should have.", Matt said very matter of fact. "But she’s not like those other girls.", Jeff argued. "What’s that suppose to mean? And Josie is?", Matt asked. "No, that’s not what I meant. You know how she was when you were hitting on her. She’s tough. She’s different.", Jeff said trying to make his case. "I know what you mean, bro, but maybe she’s tired of being tough. Maybe what she really wanted was for you to break down that wall and find that softer side. Maybe she needed that.", Matt said. "I don’t know. Maybe you’re right.", Jeff said. The girls walked back into the kitchen. This time Sky didn’t avoid Jeff. "Look, I’m sorry about what I said. That’s not what I meant.", Sky said pleading her case. "That’s okay.", he said, "I understand." And he did. They gathered their things and piled into Josie’s jeep. They chit chatted all the way back to the hotel. The girls didn’t get out of the jeep when they reached the parking lot. Matt and Josie said their good-byes and they shared a passionate kiss. He promised to call her. "Well, I have to say it was a very interesting experience.", Sky said. "Yeah. It definitely was.", he said. "Take care of yourself now. And try not to end up in any more emergency rooms.", Sky said, not knowing what else to say. "I will. You take care.", Jeff said. He hugged her and walked off towards the hotel. The girls pulled away. They got about a mile down the road when they heard a phone ring in the back seat. Sky reached back and grabbed the phone. "You forgot your phone.", she said as she answered it. "Yeah. Sorry.", Jeff replied. "That’s okay. We’re turning around now.", she said. "Okay, I’ll meet you in the parking lot.", he said. She hung up and told Josie to turn around. They pulled up and Sky got out of the jeep and walked towards Jeff who had spotted them pull up. "Here you go.", she said as she handed him the phone. "Thanks.", he said, "I forgot something else too." "What?", she asked. "This…", he said as he grabbed her and kissed her very passionately. He released her from his grip and she stood in shock. A smile crept across her face. "I’ll call you later.", he said, "if that’s okay." "yeah. That’s okay.", she said smiling. She turned around and got into the jeep. He watched them as they pulled away. "That’s definitely okay.", she said to herself as she waved at him one last time. ..Last Chapter ..*.. Next Chapter ..*.. Chapter Index ..*.. Home.. |
