The Tiniest Trace

Phonetical Imagery, (2004), #20

I think I will set me a camp in these woods,
But I'll not build a fire or a tent.
I'll sleep 'neath the tree that is sheltering me,
And you'll know not the way that I went.

I will not take a stone from its' place on the ground,
I will not cut a plant from its' root.
There'll be nothing more than there was when I
leave,
and I'll take but the dust on my boot.

In the morning I'll wake to the sun as it sifts
through the trees to the earth where I lay.
I'll move to a place that I never have seen,
new beauty and wonder, a new place to stay.

When I feel it would change how things are
if I stayed,
I decide not to visit that place.
And when I am leaving a spot where I've been,
I will cover the tiniest trace.

For Breaking Off an Affair

by

Phonetical Imagery  (2004), #49

You have my heart and  you have my love
so you wonder why I cry.
You ask me what the tears for,
at last I'll tell you why.

When someone loves somebody like the love
I have with you,
But has another waiting back at home
what can you do?

These late night calls and meetings can't go on,
it isn't fair.
Our hearts will only break one day,
and though  you know I care,

The time has come to let it go,
there is no way to win,
I won't be calling you at night,
we will not meet again.

Someday you'll understand this dear,
and why it has to be.
I'll always love you deep inside,
and hope that you'll love me.....
