Rewa Marie Fyles
American Poet from Texas
Poem Review by Andrew Angus

Title of poem:
I Depend On Your Smile
Source:
Feeling Poetic (2003)
Poet:
Rewa Marie Fyles
Rating: 5 laurels out of 5 laurels.

Rewa's poem "I Depend On Your Smile" is a free verse consisting of one stanza with 32 lines.

The lines of the poem are like lyrics of a song.
It is a  love poem about a woman who feels good seeing the smile of her boyfriend or male love interest. Her day is complete when she sees her male love interest.

The guy's smile invigorates the female character.

"
I depend on you
     to get me through,
Your smile is what
     gives me a touch
A touch of love
     so tender and sweet
A touch of love
     from head to feet.
I feel refreshed
     when I'm with you,"

Is this a sign of true love - when a person you like makes you feel good and feel refreshed?

One factor in a successful relationship could depend on the positive feelings that a guy can give to a lady.

The poem ends like this-

"
Your presence calls
     for celebration,
I have joy
     and rejuvenation!
You are the fresh air
    that I breathe,
No sweeter joy
     can I conceive.
This is why
     I depend on you,
Your smile, your smile
     it gets me through."

Love  brings out the best feelings in the female character in the poem. Feelings like joy and rejuvenation are felt by this woman who is in love with her male companion.

A woman's positive feelings about a man could be signs of  true love or the beginning of romance.

In my opinion, love and romance are two different feelings.

I Depend On Your Smile

by

Feeling Poetic (2003), p.27-28

I depend on you
     to get me through,
Your smile is what
     gives me a touch
A touch of love
     so tender and sweet
A touch of love
     from head to feet.
I feel refreshed
     when I'm with you,
One glance
     takes me to
Another day
     fresh and new;
I can see my life
     forever with you.
You look my way,
     I'm put back
To a whole,
     nothing I lack.
Your presence calls
     for celebration,
I have joy
     and rejuvenation!
You are the fresh air
    that I breathe,
No sweeter joy
     can I conceive.

This is why
     I depend on you,
Your smile, your smile
     it gets me through.
