Poem Review by Andrew C. Angus Comments on JW Bradford's poem "Butterfly" Title of Poem: Butterfly Written by: JW Bradford Source: Voices of the Heart (2004) Rating: 4 laurels (out of 5 laurels) JW Bradford's poem Butterfly is written in rhyme in 6 couplets. The rhyming pattern is: abcb defe ghih. The main character/s in the poem must be two butterflies - one if male and one is female. The male butterfly is wooing the female butterfly. The male butterfly admires the beauty or grace of the female butterfly in flight. The courtship or mating of two butterflies in flight is very subtle in the last three couplets: . " I cling to you and feel your warmth My heart is filled with love. Never land So I can stay, with you in endless bliss Hold my soul up to the heavens Where I can keep the love I miss." The poet's representing a human couple with two butterflies making love is good poetic technique. The poem is 12 lines short. The poem is memorable and well-written. If I were to suggest a title, I would have the title "Butterflies in Love" since there seems to be two butterflies in the poem. The male butterfly is talking to the female butterfly like in a wooing or courtship. Anyway, the 12 lines of the poem is wonderfully written to express a romantic relationship between two butteflies. |

Poem Review by Andrew Angus Title of poem: When I Think of You Written by: JW Bradford Source: Voices of the Heart (2004) Rating: 3.5 laurels (out of 5 laurels) JW Bradford's poem "When I Think of You" is a poem written in rhyme. It has a rhyming scheme abab, cdcd, efef, ghgh.. It has 4 stanzas with four lines each stanza. A total of 16 lines. It is a love poem that sounds like a lyrics of a love song. A very good poem and highly emotional poem. The female character in the poem is far away from the male persona. The male persona longs for her presence. The poem ends: My heart is yours, you know it's true I ache when you're away That's how I know I'm in love with you And in love with you is where I'll stay. |

When I Think Of You by JW Bradford Source: Voices of the Heart (2004) When I think of you, my heart speaks your name I yearn to hold you, and feel your touch You are my light, my burning flame My lady, I love you so much A gift you give, I pray to keep Your soul is one with mine I feel you even in my sleep I'll love you till the end of time. A dream I hope will never end Our love I can't describe My love, my life, and yet my friend You changed who I am inside My heart is yours, you know it's true I ache when you're away That's how I know I'm in love with you And in love with you is where I'll stay.
