". . . I hope that, at some time in your life, you'll be able to go someplace where it's quiet, where there are no cars, no dogs barking, no planes passing overhead, and that you will be able to listen to all of the music that she [the wind] gives us. If you're really lucky, you'll be able to sit by a lake at the foot of a mountain and hear a storm come and go. There is beautiful, beautiful music there. All you have to do is listen. . . . " (John Denver, Windsong) |
When John died a loss so great filled our hearts, our minds and our souls. Never again would there be so great a talent of man that could reach into us and pull out everything good in us. Few singers, writers, actors or artists have had such an impact on me or my husband as John did. The loss of John came on the wake of great people as Michael Landon, Princess Diana, and Mother Teresa. I once questioned if God had some horrific plan that began with taking the most humane of people away to spare them. I got over it! God must really be having trouble in his kingdom to need the best.
Now what? We go on listening, teaching and feeling the teachings of John's music and song. Our children still listen and feel the messages that are there. When we camp, we invite the wisdom he gives us of nature and we look for more. This is the true gift of a gifted man. Thank you John and his family for letting us have these gifts.
