Class Offerings

Creative Movement: This class is offered as a fun introduction to the world of dance. Although some basic elements of ballet are covered, this is not a structured technique class. Students develop a love for dance through the use of storytelling, improvisation, song, and games.

Preschool Combo: While the emphasis at this age is still primarily on having fun, this course offers more structure in the form of a pre-ballet and pre-tap class. This course focuses on developing motor skills. A small portion of the class will still be spent on improvisational skills, to continue to develop the child's creativity. Performance dances will be done in tap shoes.

Ballet: Ballet is the foundation for all other dance forms. Proper alignment and technique are emphasized. It is recommended that all students take ballet class. Serious students are encouraged to take more than one ballet class per week.

Jazz: Although proper technique and alignment are still a great part of the jazz program, emphasis is placed on learning different styles of movement. In addition to learning classic jazz technique, students will explore the styles of Hip-hop, Latin dance, Musical theatre, and Lyrical jazz.

Tap: The study of tap involves learning different rhythmic patterns through the use of precise footwork.

Contemporary Lyrical Modern: This form of dance, although a bit abstract, incorporates the techniques of Graham, Horton, and Humphrey. Emphasis is placed on arching, swaying, extension, contraction and release, fall and recovery, and off center movement.
