| This is the view of the Kluane Lake from Soldier's Summit, the memorial to the opening of the Alaska Highway in '42. The original highway is still there above the present one. It is clear that the vehicles had to be heavy and the going would be slow back then. The Highway was a gigantic effort funded mostly by the US Department of Defense. |

| I spotted a sign for a hiking trail to "Hidden Lake". It was quite pretty but I was attacked by voracious insects. |
