still more North Boundary Trail
The North Boundary Trail is no ordinary trek.  It has miles of just plain bush and the insects to go with it.  However, the past few pictures hiking along the lake make up for some of the tedium in the trees.  Breaking out of the trees into a stand of shrubs like this one with a cloud capped mountain reaching out of the trees into the sky makes my day.  These pictures were all taken on July 18, day 6, enroute to Three Slides Campground. And I saw humans today.
After a long day of more trees, feeling up and down in drizzle and wondering if I'm really cut out for this kind of trek, I sit having dinner and have this view to gaze at and reflect.  How many people in this world are able to do this and have such solitude. I know I'm very lucky.  Maybe a bit nuts but still....lucky.
Another spot where I drop my pack, get out the trail mix and take a break. As I hoist my pack again, I notice movement out in the water.  It's a handsome moose.  No way you can see it...but I remember where it is and can see it anyway. This is day 7 enroute to Oatmeal Campground from Three Slides Campground.
I have myself nicely settled into Oatmeal Campground placed in a broad valley next to the river and open to splendid views.  A father and son from Germany hike in about 2 hours behind me goin' the other direction.  They decide to spend the night here too.  It was nice to have company in the evening for the first time since day 1.  Tomorrow I will be hiking the Pass.  I'm excited about that.
