SPECIES OF COCKATOO
There are 5 genus:

Cacatua Cacatua (White Cockatoos)
Cacatua Calyptorynchus (Black Cockatoos)
Cacatua Probosciger (Palm Cockatoo)
Cacatua Callocephalon (Gang Gang)
Cacatua Eolophus (Galah)


The 5 genus total about 18 species and also several sub-species.  They all vary in size, colour and character.  Most cockatoos make good pets, but some species are more popular than others.  The species most frequently sold as pets include the Moluccan Cockatoo (Cacatua Moluccensis), the Umbrella Cockatoo (Cacatua Alba), the Greater Sulphur Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua Galerita) and the Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua Sulphurea).


The basic species in each genus Are:

White Cockatoo- Umbrella (cacatua alba), Moluccun (cacatua moluccensis), Greater Sulphur Crested (cacatua galerita), Lesser Sulphur Crested (cacatua sulphurea), Goffins (cacatua goffini), Ducorps (cacatua ducorpsii), Bare Eyed Little Corella (cacatua sanguinea), Blue eyed (cacatua ophthalmica), Lead Beaters major Mitchell (cacatua leadbeateri), Philippine/Red Vented (cacatua haematuropygia), Long Billed (cacatua tenuirostris)

Black Cockatoo- Red tailed black (calyptorhynchus magnificus), Funereal (calyptorhynchus funereus), Glossy black (calyptorhynchus lathami), White Tailed Black (calyptorhynchus baudinii)

Palm Cockatoo- Palm Cockatoo (probisciger aterrimus)

Gang gang Cockatoo- Gang Gang (callocephalon fimbriatum)

Rose breasted Cockatoo- Rose Breasted/Galah (eolophus roseicapillus)
